Best Three Wins @ Heavyweight

Which heavyweight has the best three wins on his record?

My pick is Ali with Liston, Foreman and Frazier..

Do you agree? Who else had three great wins?

Completely agree with this choice.

No-one else comes close in my view

Nothing tops Ali's achievement but Holyfield's wins over Bowe, Tyson and Foreman aren't too shabby.

Lewis is also among the best with wins over Holyfield, Tyson and Klitschko.

Not if you take into consideration the stages of their career, and that Klitschko sucked.

Holyfield would have a case with Bowe and Tyson, not sure if Foreman was this third best.

Louis had Schmeling, Baer, and Walcott.

Foreman had Frazier, Norton and Lyle.

If Lewis' win over Klitschko sucked, than Foreman's win over Lyle was utter sh!t.

Tyson was finished well before that fight.

Yeah, Tyson was more of just a name in Lewis' record.

Marciano has Louis, Charles and Moore. Same problem as Lewis though, they were worn out by the time of the fights.
Johnson has Langford, Ketchel and Jeffries.

No, because Lyle was better than Klitschko.

Yeah, you do have to take into consideration the stages of the fighter's career. Louis was way past it. Charles and Moore had something left, but were past it.
Langford had not reached his best, Ketchel was a middleweight and Jeffries had not fought in more than 5 years. Not Johnson's fault, just the way it happened.

I know, but at the same time we all know that Liston took a dive, Frazier was blind by the time Ali got to him and Foreman was drugged before the fight. Double standards much? :D

No, I don't do the double standards thing. If a guy was way past it, I say so. If not, I don't.

Ali is the obvious answer and evander is clearly #2. The fact we're seeing Jeffries listed shows this thread is a quick one.

Many had two wins against great opposition, not many had 3.

It's between Muhammad Ali and Jack Johnson.

But, Joe Louis got some also nice wins:
WKO13 Billy Conn
WTKO1 Max Schmeling (II)
WKO8 Jersey Joe Walcott (II)
W10 Jimmy Bivins

One retired 6 years, another a middleweight....shouldn't even be in the discussion IMO

How bout Michael Moorer instead of Lyle?

(you could arguably also put in Gerry Cooney instead of Lyle)
