Joe Calzaghe is rumoured to be a potential future oppoent for Felix "Tito" Trinidad should he decide to move upto 168 pounds in 2005. His father, Felix Trinidad Snr stated this week Calzaghe or Jeff Lacy could be future opponents should he move to 168 pounds. He stated, "If Don King thinks it is the best fight then that's no problem for us."

He couldn't get a much bigger fight than this, and he'd have a serious weight advantage too.

One of the most incredible (in its literal sense) rumours this year.

I've also heard Tito's name linked with Tarvers!

Daddy Tito probably saw the unbeaten record, saw how padded it was, and fancied his chances. Trinidad has fought, and ruined, a fair few unbeaten guys in the past. I don't think he would step up to 168 if he fights Hopkins (who I think will beat him in a surprisingly (for some) rematch).

Anyway, Calzaghe would have massive weight advantage, about 15lb at least perhaps. He could probably spark Tito with a few shots. Despite how one-dimensional Trinidad appeared in his defeats, I do not think Joe could out-box him (oooh contorversy), as Trinidad's accuracy is too good and he's intelligent in the ring too - an advantage some of his previous opponents would have been wise to pick up on. But at the end of the day... C'mon, Joe Calzaghe in with a live marquee name? It's 90% business, 10% sport with SN superstars.

On a side note, I once read Trinidad almost got sparked - was really out of it - the last time he fought in Europe (Paris), waaay back in 1992. Anyone know if that's true?

If Tito doesn't end up fighting Joe we'll probably get the "Trinidad's avoiding me" speech. Looking forward to it already (the speech, that is).

I imagine Calzaghe V Trinidad will happen in the summer of 2005.

I also imagine in the hot summer of 2005 I will be dating Natalie Imbruglia.

That's right, he came over to fight in front of the Acaires brothers, who were thinking of signing him. He was badly hurt and looked very vunerable, if I remember rightly, before coming back to win.

As a result, they took a rain check on him. And must've ended up feeling like that guy who passed on The Beatles.

I am sure this fight has a good chance of being made, after all it's either Trinidad or Veit in the super fight right? I can't see Trinidad moving up to SM no way, if he was moving anywhere it would be down in weight, there is nothing for him at the higher weights. This is another fantastical rumour, remember when Calzaghe was supposed to be fighting William Joppy a while back? Snooooozzzzze

The only fight I want to see Froch in, is a fight for survival, waist deep in the middle of a tar pit the size of lake Victoria. But, yeah, for my money you can throw Calzaghe in there too. Last one afloat wins another hour in the tar.

Seriously though, Calzaghe would batter Froch at this stage in their careers. Froch is way too open, but at least his chin might mean the fight lasts a while.

Froch has not beaten anyone to deserve a title shot yet, even a WBO Title. He needs to concentrate on British, Commonwealth and European Title first, like he has claims he wants to and work his way up the ratings whilst learning his trade.

I would do but it may be a bit awkward as Cammy is stll upset over me dumping her last year.

if the nile nutter could knock him down what would a world class operator do to him? Tito must be tight at middleweight to consider another weight class or it might have something to do with a Mr Hopkins.....

With De La Hoya and Shane Mosely both talking about returning to the Welterweight division. The big money fights for Tito are decreasing. There is of course a Hopkins rematch but I imagine Tito would want to get a few more paydays in before taking another possible beating from Bernard.

Tito V Winky Wright is the fight I would like to see.

Bad match up for Tito IMO. Tito struggles with boxers with good movement.

I hope to God Don King doesn't put him in with Winky. Tito needs a world title and Masoe (the WBA champion) would be a good start. Not to mention a guy who is nearing 40!!!

I think Trinidad V Wright would be a great fight, although there is easier ways for Tito to get a title.

According to Warren's News Of The World column Don King apparoached him in Las Vegas asking about the Trinidad-Calzaghe fight, Frank says he would take the fight at the drop of a hat.

Because Tito will beat him.

Tito is a far better fighter than Calzaghe. Calzaghe being bigger will keep him in the fight, but Tito will walk away with the decision.

Be interesting to see how much power Tito would have at SM, can't see the point of moving up though?

Tito would blast Calzaghe into oblivion.
