Following on from the Buffer thread... Does the national anthem pish boil anyone elses pish? Especially when the fight is in the US and you're struggling to stay awake at 4am to watch a fuckin fight and you have some 2bit singer screeching out the national anthem of a country that nobody gives a solitary fukk about!!

Mexican, British and Saudi anthems?? That alone is another 10-15 mins.. On top of that, these BIG fights, the entrances seem to take too long as well.

It's the timing of them rather than the anthems themself---we've been waiting all night, suddenly it seems like the big fight is happening, and then we gotta wait extra. It plays with our nerves and patience and mind really, cruel

Waste of time nobody cares about them. What do they achieve?

I always make a point of booing the fvck out of all national anthems if I’m at a boxing event. Not out of disrespect to the countries, just because they’re very boring and shouldn’t be done at boxing. Especially just before the main event, really lowers the energy.

The US national anthem in particular irritates me, not because I'm anti-American before any of you jump on me it's because it is so woefully sung, why not just sing it simply instead of dramatically warbling through it.

Yeah I would get rid of them, I'm here to watch two blokes smash each others face in.

I did enjoy a video of some tart messing up the US anthem at an Ice Hockey game, then to top it off she slipped and ended up on her arse

Yeah if it's in the US and between two non Americans they always manage to squeeze the US anthem in!

That one at Canelo v Kov absolutely murdered it,that's the bit that pisses me off,some clown screetching and dragging the notes out for ages.Keep them short and sweet and get on with it

It's not two mins it's about 10/15 sometimes... 3 anthems 2-5 min a song with all the inbetween's

It's pointless, boxing isn't a team sport and the fighters aren't really representing their county (some choice to more than others) but it's essentially an individual sport. You don't get it at the darts

What pishes me off is the way you have say GGG vs Canelo so they sing the Kazakhstan national anthem then they sing the Mexican anthem then they sing the USA national anthem and we all know how long this lasts when you get some bint trying to get all patriotic and dragging it out for 5 mins,fck them off,we know were they are from,they arnt in the olympics its prize fighting and they are fighting for cash not national pride.

My best mate used to say 'Jerusalem' should be our national anthem instead, but I've never gotten around to reading the lyrics so I'm not so sure about singing that one either. Probably a bit dodgy too.

No man likes national anthems. In fact, boxing (especially big time boxing) is just 12 minute rounds interspersed with adverts surrounded by boredom and anticipation. It really is a shite sport to follow. And the bloke I want to see win when you're awake at 6 in the morning always loses anyway. National anthems only compound the misery.
