Dodgy referee for the Joshua-Ruiz Jr. rematch?

An interesting Facebook post from boxing scribe Vivek Wallace:

Will Referee Luis Palbon be the "X-Factor"?): For those who may have forgotten, referee Luis Palbon is the same referee who officiated arguably the ugliest heavyweight fight in the history of the sport - the unwatchable clinch-fest between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin. If you haven't seen that fight, go back and TRY to watch it. (Good luck making it through more than 3rds).

Pabon was also widely criticized in a few other fights. How he earned the nod in a rematch this important is beyond me but it's typical for a sport known to give the prize horse an edge. Certainly doesn't help to know that Wladimir Klitschko admittedly gave Joshua what they term "sound advice" and "strategy" for the rematch. If Joshua applies the clinch, clinch, punch strategy and cruises to a pathetic decision, what will YOUR thoughts be in the aftermath?

Here’s a list of several controversial bouts that Luis Pabon worked on:

• The stoppage of Ashley Theophane in the Broner fight.
• The dodgy stoppage of Paul McCloskey in the Amir Khan bout.
• Allowing Wladimir Klitschko's clinching in the Alexander Povetkin fight.
• Depriving Lamont Roach Jr. a decision victory when he incorrectly ruled a slip instead of a clean knockdown in the Orlando Cruz fight.
• His handling of Nonito Donaire's cut and a missed knockdown during the Simpiwe Vetyeka bout.
• The Daniel Ponce De Leon's stoppage in the Juan Manuel Lopez fight.
• The missed knockdowns in the N'Dam-Murata bout.
• The premature stoppage of Jean Pascal in the first Sergey Kovalev bout.
• Allowing Owen Beck to continue fighting during the Nikolai Valuev fight.
• Headbutts not being penalised in the Niida-Gejon bout.

And the list goes on-and-on-and-on...

Ugly fight indeed-(
But, clinching saved Povetkin from additional 7 KDs...and KO, eventually.
Every time WK stopped wrestling and boxed - Pov went down-)
