Didn't Archuleta beat Johnny Tapia not so long ago?

Yep thats the fella.

This guy lost and was dropped a few times to Emmanuel Lucero which doesn't bode well. So what he beat Tapia, Tapia's small and old.

Checking his record, he got beat by a guy who got blasted by Pacquiao in 3. After the Kebede farce this is a bad choice of fight. I was building respect for Harrison as one of the Sports Network fighters you could get behind, hopefully he doesn't go the way of Hatton and Calzaghe with his match making.

Archuletta is a tough guy, but his chin lets him down. Should be an (another that is) easy one for Harrison

Another knock over job for Harrison. Looking at Frank's record, it doesn't seem like his chin is going to hold up too well.
I expect SN will bill him as an ex world champ though ( WBB version )
He should be getting in there with someone like Ricardo Juárez - a real contender. He's already knocked out Archuletta, yet doesn't make the WBO top 15.
Forget Barrera, this is 3rd division stuff.

Dissapointed with this fight, lets not forget it was a split (and close) decision win over Tapia. However, not only is Tapia old and small (as someone said) but also had bloody pneumonia! He vommited in the post fight press conference as evidence that he wasn't lying.
If Tapia was at 100% he would have wiped the floor with him (even the 2005 version of Tapia). This bum was used as a comeback opponent for Tapia, it backfired because Tapia was suffering from a serious illness, however it still doesn't dispute the fact that Tapia still fancied his chances (and gave him a scare) fighting at what must surely be 20% of his potential. The fact that he was considered a safe opponent says it all.
Harrison KO 3.
If Harrison was fighting Tapia, I would be satisfied.

Don't get me wrong i wasn't building his Tapia win up as anything but just confirming i had the right guy...this guy will fold like an envelope once Harrison unloads. Another crap matchup

Well so much for my hopes that it would be St. Clair.

What do they say about hope being the first step on the road to disappointment.
This better be a keep-busy fight, I wouldn't like to think that Harrison will end up as the Scottish Calzaghe.

Well I wouldn't have considered even Emmanuel Lucero a decent opponent, let alone a guy who got stopped by him. I last saw Lucero on CH5 not so long ago getting taken apart again by a prospect.
I think I'll skip this one.

Harrison is the new Calzaghe/Hatton...poor title, poor matches, a load of false promise and a career that will stagnate, i can see it a mile off.

Will GBO sanction this fight Steve?

No doubt Harrison is on the long road to nowhere.

I don't think it's fair to categorize Harrison with the likes of Hatton or Calzaghe just yet.
Hatton and Clazaghe both have perfect 38-0 records and still haven't came in to a fight as an underdog! Harrison has, and he hasn't had as many proffesional fights as the two fellas mentioned above.

I agree with Max but I will only give him until the end of 2005 to step in with someone with a pulse again before I lose hope, I'm expecting someone at the level of In-Jin Chi at best, domestic clashes with the likes of Brodie might be enough to satisfy me.

Interesting call and I agree with you to a certain extent. But who has Scott faced as an underdog? Tracey Harris Patterson perhaps.
Remember, when Calzaghe fought Eubank Chris was only 31 and had only ever been beaten by Steve Collins.
But in general, you are right. I just hope his career moves in the right direction quicker than Ricky's. I honestly think that Joe is in a major rut and NEEDS a huge test for all concerned (except his bank manager!).

Scott Harrison will defend his WBO Featherweight title against American Frankie Archuleta on the 28th of January at the Braehead Arena, Glasgow.
The 29 year old from New Mexico will come to the ring with a record of 24 wins from 29 fights and despite a majority points win against a visibly ill Johnny Tapia in March this looks very much like the "easy day at the office" manager Frank Maloney has been saying Scott Harrison deserves.
When Archuleta fought the highly rated Ricardo Juárez last year he was totally outclassed and stopped in six rounds. You can't imagine Scott Harrison taking that long to finish the job as he marches onwards to a hoped for showdown with the likes of Barrera.
Michael Brodie was being touted as a possible challenger, but although he has said that he wants to fight Scott in 2005, he will need one or two fights under his belt before doing so, having not fought since losing to Injin Chi.

Well that be the second easy day at the office in a row. I think that Harrison showed character to beat Medina even though he should have done it the first time and it was not the Medina who gave Hamed and Ingle tough fights. Abelyan too was at the time well rated by the other bodies and he took care of him too. But I'll be disapointed if a Brodie fight or a Chi fight does not happen.
It's not a great start for one of the three big sports network stars I've heard rumours of Pemberton for Calzaghe but we'll see.

Harrison should win pretty quickly. Lets hope its Chi or Brodie next those are fights I'd like to see.

I remember many people thought Harrison would lose to Chacon, but Scott jumped up from British/Commonwealth level to beat Chacon, who was rated in the worlds top 10 at the time and was coming of two good wins against world class fighters like Istvan Kovacs and Victor Polo. I\'m a Scott Harrison fan, but even i had my doubts when Harrison was walking in to the ring that night, i thought the opportunity had arrived just a bit to soon in his career...

I agree, if he doesn't get a big fight by the end of next year i'll be pissed off too...
