Okay, with the 2004 coming to an end what is everyones hopes and prediction for the next 12 months in domestic and world boxing.

Heavyweight.
Whilst I would really like to see Danny Williams fight for another version of the title, I cannot see it happening I'm afraid. However, he is still a good fighter domestically and now is well known stateside. It would be the PERFECT fight for Skelton or Harrison to take in the early part of 2005. For Skelton it is an easy fight to make and it would sell out in the UK, it would also get Skelton some regonition should he win.

The same would apply for Harrison (although he is more well known). However, the fight is more difficult to make.

So I predict Skelton vs Williams will happen in 2005, but Williams will come on top with an 8th round TKO. Williams will finish the year as British and Commonwealth champ and will make some defences of the later belt as he tries to look to step it up (again).

Cruiserweight.

I would love for Carl Thompson to have a fight for a world title (proper version) and a fight with Johnny Nelson is the natural choice. However, its been 6 years in the waiting and hardly likely to happen now. Thompson will lose his rematch with Rothman and that might signal the end of the CAT.

Johnny Nelson vs Enzo Maccrinelli will be part of big SN show involving more than one WBO title defence. Johnny will win this one and will round of his career as regining WBO champ.

Hobson will still be British and Commonwealth champ and might secure a rematch with Rothman.

Light Heavy
Clinton Woods will fight for the IBF title (vs Hoye) as for a prediction, I don't know. Joe Calzaghe vs Clinton Woods will happen if he wins.

Peter Oboh will continue to reign as British champ, but will not come close to securing a big fight (that his talent deserves).

Super Middle
I think a couple of big domestic dust ups will happen here - Reid vs Froch, and I think Brian Magee might secure a surprise world title title (one of the four main organisations). I can also see Glenn Cateley returning to the ring and may have a fight against one of the three men mentioned above

I thought you wanted him to get a proper world title shot?

I am a firm believer that to a degree a fighter makes the belt, however Nelsons WBO reign has been a bit of a joke. I'd prefer to see Thompson in with one of the real champs even though he'd get flattened by all of them.

I really hope Ricky Hatton gets a major title shot but i predict he won't

well with me being scottish i want to see the scottish boys doing well.

Arthur vs Dochery will be a cracker. Arthur will prevail i feel then him and gomez will be another classic with again arthur coming out and ending gomez as a force.

Up and comers Kevin anderson and Gary young will hopefully make waves. both got there next fights lined up . kevin will fight for a celtic title in month or so and gary will fight Charles Shepard which is a step up for him. so hopefully these boys can do the job also look out for Colin Mcneil

In the lowerweight the fight I hope and predict will happen is Phillips vs Watson for the Celtic title.

Arthur vs Docherty has got fight of the year written all over it, and I think your predictions as far as the Super Feathers might come true.

Hunter v Pickering. Got a semi on just thinking about it...

fights I would like to see are:-
Froch vs Dodson (I still really want to see that but dodson has been inactive for over a year)/ Magee/ Reid/ Barny (for me it would be interesting to see froch in a real test as we have not seen since Adamu

Harrison vs Williams (a fight they both need to re start both of their careers)

Nicky Cook vs Brodie (very much one on the way up vs one on the way down but at this stage a very intreaging match up)

Hatton vs Witter (never going to happen)

Calzaghe vs any light heavy (ether that or he should shut up about it)

David Haye vs Mark Hobson (Haye needs rounds Hobson might have it to beat him, intraguing)

A proper World Champion (or 2) and some good domestic tearups especially in the Cruisers will do me for 2005, please Santa

Bernard Hopkins to have retired by the end of the year.

Fraudley Harrison is at the point where he has to gamble, this year will make or break him.

Danny Williams to come back versus a 'tough' American pseudo-journeyman opponent in the summer/latter half of year.

Calzaghe continuing a completely meaningless career against sub-standard opposition. The sooner he retires the better.

Hatton's 4th in a row 'big year' will see him pick up a vacant belt against N'dou, should it go to plan. More big fights 'done' only to collapse at the last minute with journeyman brought in would not be surprising.

Nicky Cook versus Dazzo Williams will see who gets to go up a level; I pick Cook in a closeish points victory. Williams is the one who decides how close it should be.

A win over Alex Arthur would do Craig Docherty wonders. One of those rare fights where I think a points win would mean more than a knockout (as people would just say Arthur was chinny). Sans Arthur, I would be impressed if he maintained the status quo at the level he's at by the end of the year.

Kevin Mitchell - the inevitable, devastating KO loss may happen sooner than I thought. He might not even see this year through. It has been rumoured, though not confirmed that allegedly must tread very carefully with him now.

Mark Hobson and Enzo Maccarinelli: it needs to happen, let's see it.

Johnny Nelson, I think, will have retired by late next year.

Perhaps Alex Arthur being beat again, not sure by who though, just can kinda see it.

Froch will go boom or bust; either he'll come a cropper, or he'll earn himself a respectible legit title higher than British by the year's end.

Mayweather versus Cotto is a dream fight. I can vision both winning by stoppage, even though I slightly favour Cotto to stop him. The KO losses suffered by Uncle Roger and Edwin Rosario, respectively, perhaps unfairly cloud my judgement on these two. I might go to this fight if it gets made.

Scott Harrison will do well to remain drifting on the outskirts of World Championship class like he's been doing. He should have had a big fight by the years end - if not he can be categorised with Calzaghe and Hatton.

David Haye will get done again towards the end of the year if he dares step up a level. The glamour mindset to boxing as opposed the graft one will ruin any talent he has.

Here we go then.

James Toney fights Vitali Klitschko in the summer. During the press conference, things get a touch out of hand when Toney suggests that "brotherly love" has a special meaning where Vitali's concerned. Come fight night, Vitali has the last laugh. He destroys a hopelessly outgunned Toney in five rounds.

Calzaghe finally gets his big fight. Late in the year he faces Jeff Lacy, and is blasted out in three one sided rounds.

Johnny Nelson schools Maccarinelli for eleven rounds, before he gets lazy and is caught by a huge, last-ditch haymaker. Nelson retires; Enzo takes over Calzaghe's role, and ends the year fighting a couple of eastern European stiffs.

Trinidad, Mosley, and De La Hoya engage in a little round-robin tournament. Trinidad wins both his matches, whilst Mosley has an indian summer, beating De La Hoya in convincing fashion.

Tszyu, having decided not to pursue a fight with Hatton, dismantles Cory Spinks (who earlier in the year squeaked past Zab Judah). Tszyu then sits around for the rest of the year waiting on the outcome of the DLH/Tito/Mosley round-robin. At the very end of the year he sends the only one of the three not to win a fight into retirement.

Hopkins passes the time before the Trinidad fight by facing Eastman, followed by Sturm. He wins easily enough against our own Howard, but Sturm fights well above himself and manages to cause Hopkins problems throughout the fight. Hopkins gets himself out of trouble by coming on strong late in the fight, earning a close points win. He then gets his big pre-retirement pay day by taking on Tito in November. Tito catches him cold and doesn't let him off the hook, and the career of a great fighter comes to a less than glorious end.

Gatti is made to look very silly by Mayweather, who dances like he's never danced before. Gatti goes home a unanimous loser, whilst the authorities catch up with Floyd, and he goes home in the back of a police car.

Witter beats Branco easily, and spends the rest of the year doing an Eastman, and waiting for a title shot. Meanwhile, his great rival fights for, and wins, Tszyu's vacated IBF belt. Hatton makes two quick fire defences against Leija and Dorin. He then thrills fans everywhere by agreeing to fight Miguel Cotto in 2006, while just out of camera shot, a rather droopy eyed fellow shakes his head, and mouths the words "no way" furiously.

My prediction for the forum is that boxrec will continue the (at first) mildly amusing, but now not so, trend of placing the word "allegedly" before the words Frank and Warren. It’ll continue to plague all members who wish to write in coherent sentences throughout the year. The whole mess finally comes to an end when Mr Warren holds a press conference and proves that his first name is indeed Frank.

Im thinking of having a world heavyweight title shot!

I hope Danny William's fights some of the top ten guys in the Wbc then get a title shot in 2006.
