The best - Inoue vs. Donaire fight.
The worst - Briedis vs. Glowacki farce.
Of course, the deaths of fighters are the worst things happened this year, but, here I do not intend to speak/write about, this might be another thread.

Glowacki vs Breidis certainly wasn't the worst thing in the sport this year. I quite enjoyed that fight.
Ruiz upsetting Joshua was probably the most memorable moment of the year, and undoubtedly the Upset of the Year.
Pac beating Thurman at 40 was a big one.
Jean Pascal had a terrific career comeback this year.
The worst is just the fact that there didn't seem to be a ton of huge events, and this years Fight of the Year Donaire vs Inoue which don't get me wrong is a good fight, but there have been years when I've seen 5 or 6 better fights than that all within a few months. So this isn't the best year for the sport action wise.
All in all though this is one of those years that reminds you of the Larry Merchant quote "For Boxing fans there are Good years, and Better Years"...this is just one of the Good ones.

One of the least memorable years ever. Wbss notwithstanding. Nothing of note for Crawford or loma, none of the big 3 heavies fought each other, etc...

Wbss was great again. 2 championship fights that were foty contenders.
Some great matchups and surprises too
Joshua v ruiz obviously
Beterbiev v gvod unification
Canelo moving up to ko kovalev
Spence v porter
Pacquiao v thurman
The worst....
Lack of unification at he and 147 which are 2 of boxings best divisions
Bad judging which is something you come to expect
Some talented guys in their prime wasting a year... crawford, santa cruz, fury, mw charlo come to mind

Surely loma wasted a year too?

modern boxing. They're so overpaid, big fights aren't necessary.

Have to agree this year has been lacklustre or just good as Gil quoted. Many weekends went by with no boxing so that is the bad.
Also Katie Taylor being awarded fighter of the year when she blatantly lost her fight with Persoon and did not enact a rematch can’t be good for women’s boxing.
The good was no doubt the wbss aside from the cw tournament which I felt was unnecessary.
Perhaps also that one of the biggest names, AJ now has a loss on his record and seems to have attained vindication, (mostly) is again a sign that one loss doesn’t have to define a fighter. That’s good for boxing.
Other than that we are all still waiting for the big fights and losing patience.
