I took Boxrec's suggestion and switched to Firefox.

It's about 37 times better than Internet Explorer.
Well worth a look.

Didn't like it myself. Few decent features but slowed down the old laptop I installed it on terribly.

about 37 times, couldn't you have been more precise?

Nothing is perfect but I'm recommending it based on the fact that it doesn't subject you to suffer all those virus and trojans that explorer loves to install by the backdoor

I disagree. I installed it kept it for a while, but i found it lagged a bit at what i reckoned was only 35 times faster, hence i uninstalled it.

Someone told me they lost a 30gb hardisk simply by clicking a link with Internet Explorer. I haven't used it since. That was the year 2000.

It's also great being able to open all the threads on boxrec with one middle click each, instead of going back and forward constantly, or having 20 memory hogging windows open at once. :TU:

I'd recommend it over IE.

Brillinat pop up stopper, and tab browsing is fantastic :)

I installed XP on a Dell 266Mhz laptop (128 MB RAM).
Firefox works well on it, not sure why it would slow yours down so much.

I use Opera when at home, it is safer than IE. I tried Firefox but got a lot of slowdown too. Opera is cool

I installed it on a very similar spec laptop, Toshiba though. Still running Windows 98 which I reckon is about the best for an older spec PC like that.

Been using Firefox for a few years (used to be called Firebird until it changed its name a few months back) . Best browser on a windows platform by far.

IE is just so insecure.

Still prefer Konqueror though :TU:
