I totally agree Margaret.
However, Deontay’s is still building up his resume.

Just quickly...I’d put Joe Frazier around the top if not top spot.. He was scarily tough and aggressive. You already have Hagler there, I’d have him around the top also. He was one of the most aggressive fighters I’ve ever seen.

I also hate seeing lists like this where there’s limited video evidence of some of the old-timers.
People like to boast about their “expert” knowledge of the sport by mentioning these type of “great” names (almost like it's a badge of honour), but the sad truth is… the vast majority of the reading material about these “legends” of boxing is written by people who never actually saw these guys fight, knew very little of their opponents and weren’t even alive when they were competing.
So in a Lemming-like way, casual fight fans have formulated opinions about certain old-timers being considered “great”, purely because they’ve been “told” that this is the case, by individuals who gained their own knowledge in precisely the same hearsay-like manner.

You tell them EO - no opinion is worth posting without your endorsement. Boxrec rule number 1, everything goes through EO or he gets cranky.

Out of the current guys I would say Andy Ruiz pretty damn fearless. I guess most would be afraid of AJ in the ring

One of your best posts.
Fully aggree. You see selfnamed boxing experts name boxers like harry greb or sam langford on the atg p4p top 3, just because it sounds good in the boxing community to put these boxers very high on your list. But when you got your own way of thinking and don't follow the lead and say, that 80s mike tyson was faster, had better punching power, better chin and was overall a better boxer than greb or langford and both shouldnt be near a atg p4p top 10, than all hell breaks out, like if you told children santa doesnt exist.

If it who is the most feared fighter, then I do not care about records or what era. Or a All-time rating bs.
Duran is up there, so is Tyson and Wilder is getting there.
Langford is an old-time great in that regarding his fearfator, but we do know s*it about him as a boxer, other some great stories and his record.

For what it's worth, the dude that always struck me as the scariest in combat sports was MMA's Wanderlei Silva. He had that look in his eyes like he was gonna kill you, and he has some of the more violent fights of all time.
Trying to name the 12 most fearsome fighters ever is more thought than I feel like bothering with, but I know it's easy for me to think of who always struck me as #1.

From harry greb there is no fight footage. From sam langord you can watch some clips

Would love to see Grebs fights with Tunney. See if he lives up to his nickname.
One thing is noticeable about Langford and the other greatest from the past is how fought. And saying that boxing haven't changed much is pretty much an understatement. Then again different eras with its own legends as I see it. Always a boogey-man that scares everyone for reasons that is more about ending up looking bad losing or more going the route that guys with a killer instinct, power, skills and grite are the archetype that I find.
Murders row is one example of both guys who got avoid since they where that good, and sociopolitics of the day since all guys where black. Same reason why Sugar Ray had to wait for 5 years before his shot.

If I had to put myself in the shoes of a professional fighter, I'd have to say the fighter I would fear fighting the most due to the fight and the build up would be MMA's Conor McGregor. He has the ability to completely demoralize his opponents, and then execute while talking crazy shit in the cage.

Andre the Giant. For a guy to put genuine fear in the hearts of his opponents in a scripted environment he gets my vote.

Conor McGregor? Not saying he wouldn’t kick my behind but i don’t find the loud, idiotic antics especially intimidating or entertaining so that maybe puts me in the minority. No I wouldn’t drink his gin either. What a fk wit.
