Danny Garcia believes he already dons a dossier that’s worthy of etching his name in boxing immortality in Canastota, New York.

“I definitely feel that I am a Hall of Famer fighter — right now — if you look at the last decade, and what I’ve accomplished,” Garcia told BS.com in an interview. “I’ve been headlining world title fights since 2012. I fought 13 former world champions. I won three titles in two different divisions. You can’t really ask for more from a fighter.”

The 31-year-old Garcia (35-2, 21 KOs) will next fight Ivan Redkach (23-4-1, 18 KOs) on Jan. 25 on Showtime at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Garcia listed the aforementioned foes as fighters he’d next like to face in his pay-per-view debut, a task he feels is long overdue.

Garcia, a Puerto Rican who fights out of Philadelphia, has been a boxing mainstay and a popular draw over the last decade at locales like the Barclays Center and being a hit with TV ratings.

Garcia sports wins over Erik Morales (twice), Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Lucas Matthysse, Lamont Peterson, Paul Malignaggi, Robert Guerrero and Brandon Rios.

His only two career losses have come to Shawn Porter in 2018 and Thurman in 2017.

A potential fight and win over the Pacquiao, Spence Jr., Thurman or Porter will further help make Garcia’s Hall of Fame case.

He’s been gifted a few. His actual signature win, against any boxer in their peak was Amir Khan.

He’s lost his 2 most important fights.

Most of the other names were not prime.

I think he needs at least 2 more signature wins.

His resume was very underrated for a while. Few years of treading water tho.

Thirteen of Danny Garcia’s bouts were against current/former world champions, which includes the likes of: Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, Erik Morales (twice), Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Lucas Martin Matthysse, Lamont Peterson, Paul Malignaggi, Robert Guerrero, Keith Thurman, Brandon Rios and Shawn Porter.

He’s also a two-weight world champion that has contested nine world title bouts (three at 147lbs [WBC], with the remainder at 140lbs [WBA & WBC]).

Danny previously held The RING and lineal championships at 140lbs for three years (2012 to 2014/5).

Garcia is also currently ranked in sixth in the welterweight division by both The RING and ESPN.

Whilst hindsight is a great thing and it’s not unreasonable to criticise some of his most recent performances (he can't compete at his best at 147lbs), there’s no denying that Danny Garcia was previously perceived as being one of the very best fighters in the world by this forum up until the end of 2013.

So yes, I’d say that Danny Garcia has earned himself a place in the IBHOF, because he’s more accomplished than some of its existing inductees (i.e. Barry McGuigan, Arturo Gatti, Ingemar Johansson & Vitali Klitschko).

The ‘Sports Bet Listings’ website gave Garcia a 31.7% chance to win the fight, with Matthysse considerd the 71.9% favourite to emerge victorious, which is based on the aggregated perception of multiple betting sites.

He beat all of the good boxers who were smaller than him and lost to all of the good ones who were bigger than him. He did not deserve the decision against Peterson.

He's a quality operator. Would have been a fine contender in any era. You have to be really good to beat him. But he's not an all-time great fighter.

I don’t agree that Garcia only managed to beat decent opponents that were smaller than him. It’s a tad harsh to believe this.

Also, the phrases “all-time-great” and “Hall-of-Famer” are not synonymous. They have completely different meanings. It’s far more challenging to achieve the former status than it is gaining the latter.

For instance: Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali are considered all-time-greats. The likes of Barry McGuigan, Arturo Gatti and Ingemar Johansson are Hall-of-Famers.

Danny Garcia definitely isn’t an “all-time-great”, but many Hall-of-Fame worthy fighters aren’t.

I’m not suggesting that Danny Garcia will definitely be inducted into the IBHoF in the distant future, since many excellent boxers are constantly listed in the annual voting poll that never receive enough votes to gain entry, but he’s already accomplished more than several existing Hall-of-Famers.

Or maybe even Herrera. Had he lost the fights he was supposed to and then maybe gained revenge in a rematch, I would have more respect for him. That goes for many others too.

He was a betting favorite, but on message boards like this one he was a Joshua/Ruiz favorite.

He has some impressive wins in record, mainly Khan and Matthysse. IMO he should won at least 1 top fight (not Rdkach) to get HOF. On the other side, guys with lesser achievements are in HOF so who know. Btw guy who talks about himself as a Hall of Famer and he will fight Ivan Redkach, that is a bit embarrasing isnt ?

Nah, not a Hall of Famer yet, but still good enough that it's not out of the question before he retires.

He's on the fence right now. Like a Tim Bradley type, but not as close to induction as Tim.

There's a couple of factors that decides who gets in. Your popularity, who's up for induction at the time you become up for induction. Sh*t like that.

Garcia will have a hard time eclipsing the popularity or achievement of even fighters in his own era if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Imagine if we use the weakest case as the baseline, going by what they accomplished, to whether someone deserves induction, then how many active fighters would deserve it too

The list would be long! All these guys and more would have strong cases already, and prob retiring around similar times, meaning you'd have to compare them to each other and the guys on the ballot , you aren't deciding whether to vote in them or whether to vote in already inducted vitali or gatti

Then you will have ballot carry over with some of the guys here and other guys who recently retired.

The Hall of Fame obviously isn't entirely merit based. If it were there'd be a lot of guys in there now that aren't. It's as much to do with popularity and notoriety as it is accomplishment.

If you were a real good fighter that most people never heard of, you probably won't get in.

If you were a pretty good fighter that was in a lot of major fights, and were a big draw in the sport. Better chance you'll get in.

True, but I don't get the stuff about going by the lowest common denominator regardless of the criteria. If you go by the lowest, then tons of guys around suddenly meet the standard, and you have to compare fighters with all those guys and not guys already inducted. Danny Garcia will never be on an IBHOF ballot vs Vitali, Gatti, etc.

It ain't over yet for Danny so it's not impossible, but yeah I can't imagine he'll ever match the popularity of either Vitali or Gatti.

Even if they did it wouldn't matter. Promoters come and go in this sport. PBC won't be a thing some day, but Boxing will still be around.

The ibhof rules are set up so guys like garcia (who is in reality in the hall of really good) get in. He will be on the ballot and in a down year will get in

Its why the boxing hof is ludicrous...but in keeping with time honored traditions of boxing where corruption, greed, and stupidity are found at every level it makes perfect sense the hof is like this
