David Price vs. Lucas Browne - TBA

Olympic bronze medal winner David Price is looking to get back in the ring in the coming months.

Price, coming off a TKO win over David Allen, was last in the ring back in October, when he came in on late notice to face dangerous puncher Derek Chisora. Price was stopped in four rounds at the O2 Arena in London.

Because he took that fight in late notice with only a few short weeks of preparation, he's not basing his future in the sport off of that loss.

Even with a proper camp, Price admits Chisora would always present a difficult task to overcome.

"End of March, early April, that would be right," Price told Sky Sports. "The Chisora fight, you get judged on your last fight obviously, but the reality of it is, I did come in at short notice and it wasn't ideal preparation and everything else.

"As far as I'm concerned, I can't judge myself on that performance. I can't go from performing as well as I did in July to being on the scrap heap, because I came in at a short notice job against Derek. The circumstances weren't ideal, the build-up wasn't great, even when I had the fight signed. But Derek Chisora for me, even with a 12-week camp, would be a difficult proposition, because styles make fights and Derek is wrong for me."

In a recent interview, top contender Michael Hunter named Price as a potential opponent.

But that contest does not work for Price, who would rather face someone like former world champion Lucas Browne.

"Michael Hunter, to be fair isn't the ideal opponent for me," said Price. "He's small and nimble and they're not the type of opponents I'll be looking to get straight back in with.

"I'm thinking more along the lines of Lucas Browne. That's a fight I'm really interested in. I think it's a good fight for both of us. Whether that's the fight that I have to come back, or not, I don't know.

"I've come this far and it's obvious that I've got my own vulnerabilities. Lucas Browne is the wrong side of 40, he's had a couple of high-profile defeats, but that being said - he's still only lost twice. In reality, he's the favourite, a big puncher, wide open himself to big shots. It's what the fans would call a fun fight."

2 boxers that just keep getting opportunities.

Price said his first choice is Hunter.

Browne just keeps coming over to the UK for more KO’s.

Hopefully it’ll be an incredibly boring “chess match” with both of them circling, protecting their porcelain chins and conserving their bariatric stamina until they both gas out somewhere around the 4th, and then sort of paw and slap and fall into each other, the ref calling no knockdown, helping them wheezing off the canvas, as sweating, breathless and terrified they both somehow make it through 12 excruciatingly dull rounds of non action (Adam Smith, Carl Froch and Tony Bellew commentate) ending in a draw where they embrace and call each other “warriors”

Anything to kill their careers. Putting two ageing brain damaged walking KO’s in with each other isn’t a “fun fight”

It’s horrible.

What about Adamek vs Spiltka 2 as chief support?

So a small moving heavyweight isn't right for him, a big come forward heavy isn't right for him.

Wow he really has confidence in his ability to cope, Price's mental strength is so low right now

Should just make this a 4 rounder. Would be immense!

I'm amazed Price is still carrying on, nice guy but he surely knows he wont be winning anything of significance now? At best an Area title. Joyce and Dubois would murder him ate British level.

He must be doing this purely for the money?

Yep... because Browne won a fake belt high on PEDs and Price KOd Audley and Skelton once and won a Bronze medal

I think it’s a case of in for a penny in for a pound now for Price, can’t see him quitting anytime soon, he’ll keep trundling on hoping to turn his career round, I’ve no doubt he’ll get some half decent fights but he’s an accident waiting to happen these days

His mental strength is high, he'd get in there with anyone lol. He'd probably fight Wilder tomorrow. He just can't hang while he's in there

He’s got balls alright and it must be tough getting so much stick, he’s been in the game a long time and the Olympics and his British pro title run are fading memories now so it must be hard for him to let go, I feel for him

Don’t mind this fight - 2 guys - same level as each - if both still fit and want it don’t see much wrong with it.

whats wrong is that they are getting the opportunity for a TV fight ahead of younger fighters

and boxing fans are being fed dirge

This is the level Price should come back at.

Puts him in line for a commonwealth title shot I would have thought.

Stop sticking him in with top 15-20 guys unless he has 3 or 4 decent wins behind him.

All true. :salut:

I'd still rather watch these two go at it on an undercard while I have a pint on a Saturday night than see a 5-0 middleweight prospect face a journeyman who isn't trying to win . :bag:

I like this fight. :box:

Two likeable guys, both equally past their best, good to watch and very good boxers once.
It would be a great 'undercard attraction'.

Price should outbox Browne with ease.

The thing with big Pricey, and I know this has been said many many times but he needs to learn to throw the jab correctly.

I think Pricey gives AJ nightmares if he just had a confident jab (which we know he has in the locker) with a devastating back hand and the big power shots he has in his arsenal he could beat anyone in the division .

Its all about the jab, of course I'm talking absolute shit and he needs to hang them up

Browne nearly got KO'd by a rubbish, ancient rugby league player who hadn't won a fight in ten years: John Hopoate. Price knocks him out quickly.

He should just go to the body. Do a Dave Allen job on him. Then we’ll see Browne sat in the corner, smiling, with a oxygen mask on. Can just imagine it all now.

Wow this is actually fairly hard to predict.

I guess I pick Browne???! I think he’s more likely to let his hands go, although I could easily see him wilting if he takes a big one.

Interested to see the pricing .

TBH. Browne is just a name. He wasn’t even good against Chagaev either. Down on the cards, floored himself. Got a bit of wind and got a standing stoppage. Chagaev was past his best aswell.
