Former heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam will fight a foe to be named in a 10-rounder on Star Boxing promoter Joe DeGuardia's card Feb. 28 at the Paramount in Huntington, New York, DeGuardia told ESPN. The reason for his appearance on the club show is because, according to a source, Takam, who is co-promoted by Top Ranks, was lined up to face Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury 2 PPV undercard Feb. 22, but because Miller's long-pending deal with Top Rank has been delayed in getting finalized he won't fight on that card. So DeGuardia put Takam on Feb. 28 as they await a bigger fight.

Former heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam will make a return to the ring on Feb. 28 in Huntington, New York, fighting on a Star Boxing card in a 10-round bout against an opponent to be named.

Takam’s association with Top Rank puts him in the pool with Tyson Fury, Kubrat Pulev, soon Jarrell Miller (or at least so we think), former European champ Agit Kabayel, and Bryant Jennings. The company also have some top prospects in Jared Anderson, Sonny Conto, and Guido Vianello, and they’ve also shown a willingness to work with other promoters for heavyweight fights especially, including PBC and Matchroom, plus they have a good relationship with allegedly.

Last seen in a big fight in July of 2018, when he came unstuck in quite spectacular fashion in a fight he was winning with Dereck Chisora, warrior Carlos Takam, 37-5-1(28) will try and put his third victory in a row in his win column on February 28th. Takam, now aged 39 but still hungry for another crack at the world title, will face Brazilian boxer/MMA fighter Fabio Maldonado on promoter Joe DeGuardia’s show in Huntington, New York.

This is the word according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com. Apparently, DeGuardia had wanted to match Takam with the soon to return Jarrell Miller, on the big Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury II card in Las Vegas, but Miller will not be fighting on that show, so Takam gets 39 year old Maldonado, 26-3(25).

Yeh, Takam is co-promoted by TR too, so I don't see why not.

the co-main event, world rated heavyweight CARLOS TAKAM (now 38-5-1 28KO's) went to battle with Brazilian, FABIO MALDONADO (26-4 25KO'S). Takam established himself as the superior skilled fighter from the opening bell, but Maldonado, to his credit, was a warrior, eating shots, and waving on Takam to bring more.

Takam's game plan was clear, attack the body and work his way up. In the 5th, Takam landed three consecutive thudding body shots. Takam dominated the fight with a commanding performance, winning by unanimous decision with scores of 100-89 (x2), 100-90. Takam improves to 38-5 1 (28KO's).

Takam was direct in speaking about his victory, "Thank you all for the support. We keep on going!"

Cletus Seldon also won on the card.
