Otto Wallin vs. Lucas Browne - March 28, 2020 (OFF)

Mike Coppinger reports that recent Tyson Fury foe Otto Wallin will get another shot on a major network this spring, as he’s “agreed to terms” to face former WBA champion Lucas Browne on Showtime.
Wallin (20-1, 13 KO), a hitherto unknown Swede whose best win came over Adrian Granat, looked for all the world like another Tom Schwarz in the buildup to September bout with Fury. Instead, Wallin gave “The Gypsy King” one of his tougher fights to date, busting him open in the third round and determinedly advancing despite fading late. I’m glad to see him getting another big spotlight, even if the opponent isn’t quite as intriguing.
Browne (29-2, 25 KO) smashed Ruslan Chagaev in hostile territory back in 2016 to claim the WBA title, only to fail drug tests for clenbuterol and, ahead of an ordered clash with Fres Oquendo, ostarine. His return to the world stage two years later ended poorly, as he spent six rounds getting pummeled by Dillian Whyte before a left hook put him away.
His only other noteworthy fight since saw his liver leveled by a gorgeous counter hook from Dave Allen.

Too bad David Price.. Look's like Browne is looking at USA.

If they look like they have done in their most recent fights then Wallin should take this. Quick turnaround and give him another recognisable name to build some momentum. He showed he has some ability against Fury, not currently world level but better than the likes of Tom Schwarz. He should think about aiming for the European belt maybe.

I think this fight will end it for Browne.
Otto is looking sharp, get the feeling that is more a showcase against Browne who comes in with a good record and name(sort of).

Showtime revealed during this past Saturday’s Gary Russell Jr.-Tugstsogt Nyambayar broadcast that Luis Nery will headline a March 28th tripleheader, taking on unbeaten Aaron Alameda at Las Vegas’ Park Theater. The card will also feature the previously revealed Otto Wallin-Lucas Browne tussle and open with a rematch between Joseph George and Marcus Escudero.
Nery (30-0, 24 KO) has done a rather impressive job of squandering his skill with self-inflicted setbacks. After testing positive for “tainted beef” in his knockout of Shinsuke Yamanaka and missing weight in the rematch, he continued to struggle with the 118-pound limit while claiming mandatory status. Things came to a head in November, when Emmanuel Rodriguez refused to fight him after another scale fail.
This will be his super bantamweight debut and his first fight under the tutelage of Trainer of the Year Eddy Reynoso.
Alameda (25-0, 13 KO), a 26-year-old southpaw ranked #12 by the WBC, has fought just once outside his native Mexico. His highlights consist mostly of guys who’d lost to other notable figures, so don’t expect him to give Nery a rough welcome to 122.
We’ve talked about Wallin (20-1, 13 KO) vs. Browne (29-2, 25 KO) before, but lets do it again for that sweet, sweet wordcount. Sweden’s Wallin came out of nowhere to give Tyson Fury a far tougher out than expected last September, while Browne was last seen rebounding from a brutal loss to Dave Allen with a get-well knockout in his native Australia.

I rewatched Whyte-Browne today. It was an absolute beating, the towel should have been thrown in well before the KO. Browne won't bother Wallin, and Price would have played with him.

Shame this is now off. Was looking forward to Wallin being back in the ring.
TBH he may be getting over hyped. He’s lucky he cut Fury early in their fight, but after that he was fighting dirty and wasn’t really doing much. Lost a clear decision there.
