Some significant changes for the new Millennial boxing brand and we’re delighted to implement them ahead of our return in the four-man 168-pound square-off with the following line-up:

Zak Chelli (7-1-1, 3 KO’s) Joint youngest in the tournament at 22 but has crammed in plenty of ring experience in just three and half years of pro action with nine fights and 52 rounds plus a Southern Area title. He’s pulled off a few shocks previously by beating unbeaten prospect Umar Sadiq and dropping contender Kody Davies. He’s the bookies favorite off the back of his highly questionable draw with Jack Cullen at Matchroom’s Fight camp last time out as the away fighter. He’s hungry for the win and then onto a rematch with Cullen.

Diego Costa (7-0-0, 5 KO’s) Regarded as the most avoided man in the division but there is no home corner in this competition. The Boy From Brazil brings sizzle and salsa when he fights! From Recife, Brazil, and fighting out of Fallowfield, Manchester, Costa is the puncher in the pack with five KO’s in seven fights to earn his nickname ‘Dynamite’. Costa will have the benefit of being trained by former Prize Fighter winner Martin Murray who is familiar with the tournament format. He’s the oldest at 34, but the most dangerous and with explosive packed fists can end a fight at any second.

Charlie Schofield (15-1-0, 1 KO) At 6ft 3in, Schofield is the tallest boxer in the line-up and has been dubbed the ‘Manchester Giant’. The 27-year-old has accumulated the most ring experience with 87 rounds in 16 fights, including an English title challenge in his last fight. He’ll be looking to impose his size and ring savvy to victory.

Ben Ridings (3-0-0) The up-and-coming 22-year old from Bury turned pro in 2018 and is undefeated in his three fights with twelve rounds. Being an unknown quantity means he’s got nothing to lose and is confident of pulling off the biggest shock on the night. Ridings is the youngest competitor and is an outsider, but will rely on his youth and desire to overcome his rivals’ age and experience.

Ultimate Boxxer announce their first event of 2020

Ultimate Boxxer, the high-octane, one-night, boxing elimination tournament, kicks off 2020 and the start of a new decade with UB7 on Friday 3rd April at the Planet Ice Arena, Altrincham, broadcast exclusively live on BT Sport and BT Sport Youtube.

Following another sold out show in December with the UB6 Heavyweights tournament that saw Nick Webb crowned the winner on a thrilling night of action, UB7 will showcase the ultra-competitive Super-Middleweight division for the first time.

The 168 pound category has been one of the most successful in British boxing and has produced some of the sport’s greats and equally epic fights with the likes of World Champions Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins, Carl Froch, James DeGale, George Groves and arguably the best boxer this country has produced – Joe Calzaghe.

Eight up and coming contenders from around the UK will battle it out, starting in four quarter-finals of 3 x 3 minute rounds; followed by two semi-finals before one grand final to determine who will take home the 'Golden Robe'.

Whilst all the raw, knockout, action is taking place inside the ring, to complement it outside is a top class line up of entertainment featuring live music to create an unrivalled electric atmosphere.

Former World Champion and boxing great Paulie Malignaggi will be amongst a star studded presenting team on the night, with fellow ambassadors (Amir Khan – is confirmed?), Anthony Crolla and presenters Jack Fincham and Layla Anna-Lee.

Tickets will go on pre-sale exclusively to UB Fan Club Members first from 9am on Thursday 6th February – with prices starting from an incredible £12.50. Tickets will be limited within the pre-sale period. Sign up to the UB Fan Club today to be in the pre-sale and save up to 50% off tickets for UB7 and all our 2020 shows.

Eubank one of eight-strong Ultimate Boxxer field

Image

Ultimate Boxxer the all-action and entertainment professional boxing brand has today announced the eight Super Middleweight fighters set to compete on Ultimate Boxxer 7 - the seventh instalment of the series, which is taking place at Manchester’s Ice Arena on Friday April 3.

Ultimate Boxxer 7 will see some of Britain’s top Super Middleweights come together over the short format including Seb Eubank, Mark Jeffers and Diego Costa as they battle it out to win the Golden Robe.

The event will be broadcast live in the UK on BT Sport.

All eyes will be on British fighter Seb Eubank, who will put it all on the line in one night. With a host of amateur boxing fights and MMA bouts to his name and with a surname that is set to turn heads amongst the boxing community, he has everything to prove as he looks to continue his unbeaten professional record in the ring. Those that train closely with him say that he definitely has the famous Eubank knockout power.

At just 22 years old, Manchester’s Mark Jeffers (11-0-0) will enter the night full of confidence following his Central Area title win in his last fight. With 11 wins from 11 fights, he goes into the tournament as one of the favourites with comparison’s already being made to Ricky Hatton- with many tipping him to go to the very top in the sport.

Unbeaten Idris Virgo
comes into the tournament entering the peak of his career. Best known for his appearance in Love Island back in 2017, he will be determined to be taken seriously in the professional sport with his exciting style and personality.

Knockout artist Diego Costa who hails from Brazil via Manchester (7-0-0) joins the tournament with the best knockout ratio on the card. He is yet to taste defeat in his professional boxing career and his explosive nature is sure to excite fans as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record.

Next up is former Commonwealth Super Middleweight Champion Luke Blackledge who fights out of Darwen, Lancashire. Blackledge brings the most experience to the card and will be seeing this as his last chance to hit the big time.

Representing Scotland is the current Celtic champion, Tommy Philbin who returns to his favoured super middle weight and will be looking to return to winning ways when he steps back inside the ring after experiencing defeat for the first time in his last fight.

Other fighters set to compete in the tournament include Charlie Schofield (15-1-0) who fights out of Aston under Lyne and Scotland’s Tommy Philbin (13-1-0), both of whom are coming off losses and will be aiming to prove they have what it takes to win.

Finally, two Manchester based fighters complete the line-up. The established Charlie Schofield who holds a very impressive fight record of (15-1-0) and stands at 6ft 3 inches tall. And 22-year-old Ben Ridings, the youngest fighter in the tournament who will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record in front of his own fans.

Four quarterfinals of 3 x 3-minute rounds will be followed by two semi-finals before one grand finale to determine who will take home the title.

The draw for the quarter final pairings will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Ultimate Boxxer event will also feature other headline fights including world title challenger Jimmy Kelly (24-2) and the undefeated British welterweight Jack ‘demolition man’ Rafferty (11-0).

Attention now turns to Ultimate Boxxer 7 which will see the Ultimate Boxxer series return to Manchester for the second time in six months. On that night Nick ‘Wild’ Webb was crowned the winner of Ultimate Boxxer 6 coming out on top on points against Mark Bennett in front of a 4,000-capacity crowd.

Benjamin Shalom, Promoter at Ultimate Boxxer said: “We’re excited to bring Ultimate Boxxer to a monster super middleweight division. The Ultimate Boxxer shows have been growing in popularity with huge ticket sales and now a sold-out pre-sale for this show.
“This time we wanted to bring a group of high-profile names to the card and it’s stacked with homegrown unbeaten British talent. There is no doubt this is our highest quality card to date.”

He added: “Ultimate Boxxer has already proved it’s a platform for boxers to go and compete at the very top of the sport. Shakan Pitters, Mikael Lawal and I hope Derrick Osaze will all be fighting for British titles. This year there will be even more opportunity for our winners’.

With a fight card stacked with homegrown talent and six fighters going into tournament unbeaten, Ultimate Boxxer 7 promises to be an unforgettable night of high-octane explosive boxing action for boxing fans and casual fans tuning into the event.”

I can see Philbin winning this if he can avoid a dogfight with the bigger punchers.

Ultimate Boxxer 7 present brand-new four man knockout competition in November

UB7 brings new four-man format

BOXXER today announced that UB7, will make its return behind closed doors with a never seen before, one night, four man knockout competition and a stacked card. The undercard will also feature recently signed UB Champions, a huge professional debut and an Albanian superstar.

UB7, in association with Betfred and Lucozade, will be on Tuesday 10th November LIVE from the BT Sport studio in Stratford for a special Tuesday Night Fight Night with the debut tournament in the super-middleweight division.

In an exciting development, UB7 will be presented around a four-man competition format. This will comprise of two semi-finals and a final, all in one night - for the first time ever. The winner claiming the Golden Robe and the lion's share of the prize money.

In a real groundbreaking move for BOXXER, in addition to UB7 being broadcast LIVE with our partner BT Sport, the show will also be simulcast live on ITV4 which is available on free-to-air across the UK.

To support the super-middleweight shoot-out in UB7, an action-packed undercard has been formed and one of the highlights is the exciting and intriguing professional debut of reality star and UB presenter Jack Fincham who leaves the showbiz world behind to enter the gritty world of professional boxing. To start his journey he has teamed up with world champion trainer Ben Davison.

Far away from his victory on the 2018 series of ITV hit show Love Island, Fincham now steps between the ropes - he was a former amateur with 26 fights - to compete as a pro-boxer in the light-heavyweight division and aims to prove he’s for real.
---------------------------
Also featuring on the card are two previous UB winners who have now signed long term promotional contracts with BOXXER as they continue their careers towards championship honours with BOXXER firmly in their corner.

UB3 Middleweight winner Derrick Osaze (10-0-0, 2 KOs) is the first boxer to sign a multi-fight deal with BOXXER and is on the cusp of challenging for titles. Known as ‘The Punching Preacher’ because of his dual role as an ordained minister for his local church and his work with troubled youths, Osaze believes he can become a real force in the competitive 160 pound division.

UB4 Cruiserweight winner Mikael Lawal (12-0-0, 7 KOs) is also within touching distance of challenging for the British title and the hard-hitting 25-year-old talent from Shepherd’s Bush has put his rivals firmly on notice. With BOXXER’s backing he believes he can finally realise his dream of becoming a champion. It’s a long way from his days as a homeless 13-year-old living on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, and begging for scraps of food to survive. Lawal has been nominated for an Eliminator contest for the British Title against Luke Watkins next so he’ll be going all out for victory on UB7.

The power-punching, London-based, Albanian sensation Florian ‘TNT’ Marku (6-0-0, 4 KO’s) will again appear on the undercard. Marku featured on UB6 and impressed with his commanding victory over Nathan Bendon to take his unbeaten record to six fights and has already been linked to future fights with rivals Josh Kelly and Connor Benn.

---------------------------
BOXXER founder Ben Shalom, the youngest licensed promoter by the BBBofC, is excited with the new developments for UB7 and the future.

He said, “Whilst it’s been a challenging period for everyone, I’m delighted that we have used the time to identify opportunities and to make and implement significant changes for UB7 and beyond.”

“We’re back, it’s on a Tuesday night and I’m thrilled with the new four-man tournament format which, following regular consolation with the BBBofC, has been approved and allows us the flexibility to use in conjunction with our eight-man format,”

“Alongside our broadcaster partner BT Sports we’re delighted that the show will be simulcast live on free-to-air ITV4 which will allow even more viewers across the UK,”

“We want people to watch our shows without knowing who is going to win, true 50-50 fights and are really proud of the card we have put together. We’re confident it will keep viewers gripped all around a really competitive four man, one night tournament.”

“We’re excited to begin the promotional journey with champions of our previous shows, this is a new chapter for the company and think the huge audience this show brings on simulcast, is a great start. The Jack Fincham signing raised a few eyebrows, however, I can assure you he’s serious, Ben Davison has agreed to train him, which is a huge opportunity for him.

“The year so far has presented challenges, but we’re really pleased that we can deliver UB7 for the fans on November 10 and we intend on going forward into 2021 with further exciting developments.”

Florian Marku signs promotional deal with BOXXER, returns Nov 10

He’s sold out London fight venues, amassed an army of fans that boasts several Premiership players, now undefeated welterweight and Albanian superstar Florian Marku (6-0-0, 4 KO’s) has signed a multi-fight promotional agreement with new Millennial boxing brand BOXXER.

The power-punching 28-year-old has attracted a celebrity fan following with Albanian football stars in the Premier League all eager to watch him fight, including Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri and Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka and Shkrodan Mustafi.

Marku’s first fight under the new agreement will be on Tuesday 10th November, when he features on UB7 Super-Middleweights alongside reality star and Love Island winner Jack Fincham, behind-closed-doors, at the BT Sport studio in Stratford, East London.

The brash and flash Marku is not shy calling out his rivals and one is firmly focused in his sights – Connor Benn. Marku has also given Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn a tongue lashing as he looks to force a showdown with Hearn’s over protected asset.

Marku stormed, “I want this fight to happen. I’d like to see if Eddie (Hearn) wants to stop protecting this little girl. If given the opportunity, I promise my fans will fill the O2 Arena (in London) and I will knock this coward out!”

His fanatical and fiercely loyal followers have seen him sell out the iconic York Hall on his own, creating an unrivalled carnival like atmosphere and with huge queues outside hoping to get a glimpse of their idol.

Known as the “Albanian King”, Marku hails from Lushnje, Albania and moved to Greece when he was four. Now based out of Finchley, North London, he is extremely proud to fight for his home country where he is feted as a national hero.

The powerful 5′ 8½″ southpaw is famous in Greece and Austria and across Europe where he had over 100 kickboxing and MMA fights, winning three world titles and developed his reputation for action and KO’s. He switched to boxing after a kickboxing injury, but his combined unbeaten run in both combat sports still spans over 10 years.

Marku has featured previously on UB shows (UB5 & UB6) where he put on scintillating performances. There is plenty of buzz around UB7 following the implementation and announcement of new and exciting changes for the next thrilling instalment of the knockout tournament.

UB7 will present its first ever four-man competition format; the first ever UB tournament on a Tuesday Fight Night; simulcast LIVE on BT Sport and free-to-air ITV4; Fincham’s pro debut, plus UB Champions Derrick Osaze and Mikael Lawal on the undercard.

The event's centrepiece is a one-night, winner-takes-all knockout tournament in the super-middleweight (168 lbs) division. The four participants will first clash in three-round semi-final matches, with the winners then squaring off immediately for a five-round final to determine which of them walks away with the grand prize and The Golden Robe.

Zak Chelli (7-1-1, 3 KO’s) makes his debut for BOXXER in this tournament and is looking to score statement wins to erase his frustrations at the controversial decision which followed his fight with Jack Cullen earlier this year.

Joining him on the starting grid are young Manchester prospect Ben Ridings (3-0-0) and two new additions to the card. Liverpool’s Harry Woods (4-0), who boxed for England as an amateur, and Cumbria’s Mike McGoldrick (6-0, 2 KO’s) step in to replace Diego Costa and Charlie Schofield, who have withdrawn due to injury and covid-19 infection respectively.

“Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Carl Froch, Joe Calzaghe - super-middleweight is a weight class which has produced a lot of legends. It’s a very competitive division and it produces a lot of explosive fights, which you’ll see in this tournament,” said BOXXER’s Ben Shalom.

Along with Shalom holding the distinction of being the youngest licensed promoter in the UK, the event is also writing itself into the British boxing history books by hosting the first tournament of its kind ever to be sanctioned by the British Board of Boxing Control (BBBC).

Building up to the tournament action, the #TuesdayNightFightNight card will showcase some of the brightest prospects on the British boxing circuit, including ‘The Punching Preacher’ Derrick Osaze (10-0, 2 KO's), an ordained church minister, and the London-based Albanian threat Florian ‘TNT’ Marku (6-0, 4 KO’s) who returns to the ring looking to build on the dominant win he scored in his promotional debut earlier this year.

The card also features 25-year-old Mikael Lawal (12-0, 7 KO's), winner of the UB4 Cruiserweight Tournament. Fighting out of Shepherd’s Bush, London, Lawal has battled his way from being a homeless teenager on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria to being a serious cruiserweight contender - a win here on November 10 puts him in position for a shot at the British championship.

Love Island star Jack Fincham will make his professional debut on this card, bringing a 26-fight amateur record to the ring as he looks to transition from reality TV celebrity to real-deal boxing contender.

“With Florian Marku and Derrick Osaze, you’ve got two of the most exciting prospects in the country right now, and of course there’s also been a lot of interest in Jack Fincham making his professional debut,” said Shalom.

“Mikael Lawal’s life story is like something from a movie, from homeless street kid to sparring with the likes of Oleksandr Usyk and Mairis Briedis and being within touching distance of the British cruiserweight title. This is one of the best cards of the year we’re bringing to BT Sport next Tuesday.”

With the nation still under social distancing restrictions, the BOXXER fight night will take place behind closed doors at the BT Sport Studios in Stratford, London.

As a precaution, BOXXER are creating a ‘bubble’ several days ahead of the event, with all the staff and athletes being sequestered in a nearby hotel to minimize any risk of exposure to coronavirus.

The draw to determine the tournament semi-final matches will take place inside this bubble on Saturday, November 8, as well as the official pre-fight weigh-ins on Monday November 9, a day before the live event takes place at the BT Sport Studios on Tuesday, November 10.

On-air talent for the evening will feature some household names from the sports world, including former champion Paulie Malignaggi and veteran analyst Steve Bunce. They will be joined by Layla Anna Lee, Savage Dan and Will Perry.

Was reading there that Chelli the only fighter from original line up to fight, Ridings tested positive for Covid along with Osaze so they both out, Ridings replaced by someone I've never heard of, sounds Russian I think, Osaze fight getting rescheduled

Not even sure who's in this but Chelli wins surely

Edit- Ridings replaced by Wladimir Georgiev
