I just thought I would right to say that my thoughts are deeply with the people of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Maldives and Bangladesh who have suffered the biggest natural disaster that I can remember.

I think Boxing Day 2004 is a day that will never be forgotton. Such a tragedy.

My thoughts and prays are with all.

Another tragedy in an already troubled part of the world. But no doubt it will be yet another tragedy which will be largely ignored and soon forgotten about. it was a year ago this week there was an earthquake in india that killed upwards of 10 000 people, three times more than died on Sept 11th. but what do we hear of it now?

on the other hand if this had happened in the USA we would be having minute silences, wearing ribbons, memorial services, wall to wall news coverage, collections, tribute records etc etc.

strange and sad how some peoples lives and tragedies arent as important as others appear to be.

This year 2004 was very unlucky year, it is good that it is almost over.

It was actually Iran, and the final death toll was allegedly around 30,000. But what you're saying is exactly right - the fact is a lot of people don't place as much value on lives in the third world. Look at the intervention in the former Yugoslavia and then compare that with what the UN, US etc didn't do in Rwanda...

yeah your right about the Iranian earthquke though the one I was reffering to was in India place called Bam (spelling?) i think.

I hope J is doing well. He is somewhere in Asia, maybe Hongkong.

That is why it is okay to respond to 3,000 innocent americans diying by killing over 100,000 innocent Iraqi's who had nothing to do with it.

Look I think it may be inportant tso say here, before anything gets out of hand, I wasnt making a political point. What I was saying is that as a society we are influenced and to a certain extent encouraged to feel more sympathy and more of a collective loss towards some innocent victims of tragedys then wer are of others. Its mnore a sad indictment on ourselves and the way we regard others.

god bless them... these are people who have practically nothing to begin with.

and it is a shame, like you say, it will soon be forgotten...
