Surely Lovejoy Vs Oquendo could have been an eliminator for the WBA Gold Title?

It’s been almost six years since Fres Oquendo’s most recent victory and he continues to be classed amongst the top-15 in the world by the WBA.

He’s on the cusp of turning 47 years of age and the last time he competed was in 2014.

I think they offered him Ustinov.

But then Ustinov fought Charr instead.

Surely, if Fat Fres is refusing these fights, he should default. Not like WBA haven't tried to give him an opportunity.

He signed to fight charr. Charr tested positive

They offered him big baby on short notice and fres wouldnt fight him without vada testing... which in hindsight was a pretty good call.

The WBA rankings are strange at the best of times, but at least I've known who the fighters are. I've never heard of this chap before!

Me neither, I had to look him up!

Also three guys on this list who haven't fought in since earliest 2018. Two of them have "belts".

WBA has no relevans for the sport.
