Canelo Opponent

ODLH is struggling to get Canelo an opponent for May 2nd. It would seem GGG COULD still be in the mix, theres a couple others also but ONE which appears obvious is

Chris Eubank Jr

Sure Im not suggesting he’d roll Canelo but he has a name (his fathers) he can sell a fight and has the UK market to tap into. Ranked #3 on boxrec why hasn’t his name entered the conversation?

GGG is definitely not in the mix.

I have som bad feeling about David Lemieux, hopefully i am wrong. maybe they can get Demetrius Andrade still. I did not heard about Canelo-Eubank, but it is still better than Lemieux IMO.

Eubank is with PBC now so maybe that complicates things.

I have no clue why they don't just make the 3rd GGG fight already. The DAZN execs must be losing their shit considering they're paying both these guys millions and can't get them in the ring together.

There are only eleven weeks until May 2nd 2020. GBP will have to find an opponent by the close of play next week in order to provide an opportunity for a full training camp.

Canelo should begin a training camp in the next couple of weeks regardless of opponent if he’s clever.

Of course.

And to be honest, if you follow him on YouTube, Canelo is in the gym all-year-round. He's always training.

The deadline is more about his potential opponents, since many boxers aren't always in shape between bouts.

Most won't accept a bout at short notice if they're ill-prepared.

Top Rank vice president, Carl Moretti, ruled-out the prospect of a bout between Canelo and Murata, because the Mexican wants his next fight staged in Las Vegas on May 2nd. He said the bout only made sense if it was staged in Japan.

mmm, all that tasty, nutritious mexican beef gives him excellent powers of recovery for training.

The best possible options are Callum Smith, Saunders, Andrade. Saunders isn't likely though, team Canelo wasn't eager to make it, as far as I remember. Probably Canelo will have a mismatch against a not so relevant opponent. Like Murata, etc.

I'm glad, to be honest.

Golovkin could never KO Alvarez, even during his prime and he will never get a decision unless he put on a Mayweather style masterclass, which he was never capable of doing.

It would be very sad to see Alvarez feasting on the remnants of Golovkin.

GGG is tough, so he'd hang in there, but I think he'd take a shellacking now.

Golovkin certainly was able to KO Canelo before his wear and tear accumulated to the point where he throws very few right hands. His stamina was also way better. Canelo on the contrary improved his stamina using good stuff like Mexican beef.

Exactly. Out of competition Mexican beef is the best kind

Why not take on the skill-less, no resume guy Andrade for a tune up? He is with DAZN, and willing.

Andrade is out of action until they can find a way to separate you from his balls. Obviously he can't be in the ring with that going on :oo

The original choice, the name hyped by Alvarez’s trainer last month.

Would like to see Alvarez stop or beat conclusively just one slick opponent., with decisive power shots.

Will, all this weight jumping and weight losing be the downfall, one day, of Canelo?

Maybe they’ll match up even every time at every weight, like Márquez and Pacquiao or Barrera and Morales.

I do hope so !
personally I find him quite annoying - always looking to cherrypick an opponent rather than take on anyone .
