Dear Boxingfans,

I do a lot of research and have some questions about the Ring Magazine discontinued championship:
In the heavyweight division as on different pages listed, Tyson was the last Ring Mag champ in 1988.
Then they discontinued. In older statisitcs I've seen some confusing differences
Tyson's reign 1988-1990
Buster Douglas 1990
Holyfield's 1990
Rahman 2001
Lewis officially from 2002-2004: Lewis received the Ring Mag belt in 2000, lost to Rahman in 2001 and regained it in 2001
confusing: I've seen photos of Lewis in 2000 with the the Ring Mag belt, and I've seen photos of Rahman from 2001 with the Ring Mag belt, even had contact to the beltmakers.

So what's the case, nowadays those reigns show up in no statistic according to my sources at all.
What's your opinion - who knows?

Ring Magazine used to carry a lot of weight. Their rankings are still decent, but shuffling around who is champion or was champion for marketing reasons or shoddy research brings them down a peg.
