Was it me feeling the referee was helping Wilder, deducting a point to Fury and also when Wilder got floored he was given him more time to recover.

The point deduction was fair . However I agree , Bayless was piss poor..gave wilder extra seconds multiple times after breaking up the clinches

I was never real clear what the point deduction was even for actually. Was it hitting on the break I guess?

The ref performed a pushing down action with his arms when he issued Fury the point deduction. but I don't recall him issuing a formal warning beforehand for committing the same infraction.
Also, during the same round, Wilder appeared to fall immediately after Fury had connected with a right hook thrown from the inside and it was only due to a combination of the ropes and the ref that prevented Deontay from touching the canvas, which I feel should’ve been classed as an official knockdown.

Yeah so there ya go. We don't even really know what the point deduction was for. So yeah it wasn't a legit point to take.

I would have to rewatch it but I also got the impression that he was breaking them up often when Fury was looking like having the advantage on the inside...

He actually let Fury work inside more than I thought he would. A couple of times he even told them to "work it out".
He's a dreadful referee though with a strong stench of corruption.

Took the point after throwing an uppercut on the break but I think the ref was taking a point from the multiple fouls throughout the course of the fight

Kenny Baylis did a horrible job - I don't want to bring race/supporting compatriot into it but he did everything from giving long counts to deducting points to help the home fighter!

He actually was very kind to Fury took 10 chokes to finally take a point from Fury, the result was Fury stopped choking Wilder after the point, should have warned Fury first and 2nd choke should have taken the point, not after 10 chokes. That is helping Fury, not Wilder.
What long count you talking about ? You must be racist to bring race cause the ref is Black.

Without a warning ever given. He was taking a point because Wilder had gone down twice.

Race didn't have nothing to do with it. The dollars in his pocket courtesy of Al Haymon did though.
Bayless was a referee with integrity in my eyes until Mayweather/Maidana 2. Now he's just another guy on the take.

I don't know pal the sport leaves me asking so many question over the years.
There is a candid photo of Bayless looking at Fury with such disgust after raising his hands

I noticed him looking/staring at wilder in the clinch from the very start. To me it felt he was almost looking for Q’s from Wilder.
Fury was very professional when asked about the refereeing display in post fight, but he’ll know the drill.

I'm glad others noticed the same thing, I was/am convinced the Referee was not on the up and up. Lucky for Fury it didn't matter but it was very noticeable, especially with the knockdown rules a slip and the point deduction during a rally.

Bayless did what he was paid to do and protect the selected fighter where he could. At least he saved Wilder from serious harm.

I rewatched it, Fury had him in a chokehold right before. Behavior that usually doesn't warrant a point deduction.

Exactly!
One of these days this 'A side' business is going to get someone seriously hurt.
These 'suspicious' refs seem unwilling to stop the fight even if 'their' fighter is getting wiped out - as Wilder was (remember also the ref's 'confusion' last year in Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz 1).
Thankfully Mark Breland to his eternal credit had the sense to stop it - whilst Jay Deas to his eternal shame must regret his words.
If Mark Breland has to go, it's an absolute disgrace.
It does look like nowadays only the corner (including the boxer as in AJ's case!) has the authority to stop such a high profile (big money) fight.
Never an easy decision but an critically vital one as decent trainers such as Adam Booth have previously pointed out.

Not really as fury was leaning all over wilder and the ref never stopped that .
I feel he tried to make sure he didnt get too involved and wanted it to flow
