IBF jr welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu has nixed a $5 million+ offer negotiated between his promoter Vlad Warton and British promoter allegedly to fight Ricky Hatton in Manchester, England. Tszyu's manager Matt Watt stated, "If we choose to fight Hatton in Manchester it will be because the deal makes sense not because we were forced into it....the promoters must show the champion why he should fight at four in the morning in the other guy's backyard."

Harris has offered to step in and fight Hatton in Manchester, I hope for you British fight fans it comes off it would be a good fight why it lasted.

IMO Hatton can't beat Tszyu anyway. Harris would still be a big fight, and just about winnable although I'd make Ricky underdog.

I think both Harris and Tszyu have the beating of Hatton. Both throw excellent straight right hands which Hatton eats for breakfast. He obviously has a better chance against Harris but I think its an altogether different league fighting young champs with hunger compared to the guys he has been facing the last year.

Well, Tszyu knows he will be stripped if he doesn't face Hatton, if they cannot agree terms, then of course it goes to bids, which won't favour hatton as he will almost certainly lose house advantage.

Anyway on the Tszyu thing, I'm not sure why everyone is so convinced he will be stripped. Hatton was only the mandatory in October and Tszyu wasn't even champion before that. It could be up to 12 months (from Hatton beating Stewart) before they fight.

Look how long Eastman has had to wait.

Ah well at least he might shut up and fianlly have a title if he beats Harris.

I'm sure I have read somewhere allegedly that Warren asked "Why should we fight in the US at 4 in the morning". If that question was talking in the correct context then the answer is simple. Kostya is THE champ.

Kostya has come back well and has established himself as the number 1 in the world. If Hatton wins, he inherits the position. He MUST take this fight. Come on Ricky, make sure you accept his terms even if it means a pay cut.

Its just so fornicating insulting that he wants Tszyu to come to Manchester to fight. Who the fornicate do they think they are? Hatton is nothing on the world stage. They want the fight? Then come out and say Ricky will go down under for the fight and will take a pay cut. He would gain huge respect then.

I really am surprised by this shocking development. I have enjoyed the Harrison vs Skelton fight that Warren delivered so much, that I was looking forward to this one.

Jay Larkin was being interviewed on Radio 5 this morning about the proposed Tzsyu V Hatton fight.

He seemed to thing that Manchester was the prefered option financially, the dates they were looking at were the first Saturdays in April, May and June. He seemed to be very keen for the fight to happen.

He was under the impression that Tszyu was just holing out for a bit more money.

I shant hear another bad word said about allegedly. His word is GOLD. Every fight he promises happens, he never tells fibs, and the sun shine out of his arse.... or is that what he talks through!? Never has one mans greed been so detrimental to a sport. Don King II?

Is Hatton scared to fight outside of the UK seems that the alot of last fights have been there. Maybe having it down under would be better than watching it at 4 in morning and could be on earlier. Hatton should try other options if wants to become a world champion though seriously Danny took a lower paycut against Tyson and look were it got him(don't mean him getting beat).

Good that Kostya wants to get more money out of Warren to fight in Manchester though.

He has fought in Germany and 3 times in the USA

Not in the past 4 / 5 years though.

A reliable source close to undisputed world light-welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu has confirmed that the Russian born Australian is willing to take on Ricky Hatton at the MEN Arena in Manchester sometime in June.

I have just spoken to someone close to tszyu, who tells me the same thing. apparently, the disputes are between Tszyu and his promoter, not with Warren. Tszyu is unhappy with his terms with his own promoter, and not with Warren or Hatton, and says he is happy to travel to fight hatton.

Nothing is ever as black and white as it seems.

i hope that's true, but if it is warren will have to find another way of weaseling out of the fight.
