Do you really think Canelo deserved fighter of the year. If not who do you think deserved fighter of the year 2019. For me it was:

Naoya Inoue

Inoue, Taylor, Pacquiao, Beterbiev are just a few names which have rights to be the fighter of the year along with Canelo.

What Taylor and Inoue did was great, and Pac stunned a few people.
Canelo, hmm, bit of a cherry pick year really.

In my eyes, he definitely deserve FOTY award. Jacobs and Kovalev were top fighters. Many will argue Kovalev was past prime which is true, but wins over Eleider Alvarez and Anthony Yarde qualified him as one of best LHW in world. Agree, Beterbiev, Pacquiao and Manny have great 2019 too, especially Inoue. But Alvarez just edged it in my eyes. BTW 2019 was good year for boxing, lot of good fights
