IBF number one featherweight contender Kid Galahad has warned champion, Josh Warrington, that he will not be accepting any step-aside money in the near future.
The pair recently met up at the Jono Carroll vs Scott Quigg fight in Manchester and looked all smiles with promoter Hearn.
Asked by co-hosts Johnny Nelson and Richard Poxon what his intentions are, Galahad was adamant in the Barber Shop studio.
“I’m in line to fight him next, so the only way he can not fight me is a unification. But there isn’t the chance for a unification.
“Stevenson (WBO champion) is fighting (this weekend) and he’ll smash him (Marriaga).”
STEP-ASIDE MONEY
Nelson and Poxon then reeled off a list of price tags it would take for him to step aside and allow Warrington to choose his own time for their rematch.
The back and forth went like this:
Nelson: "Half a million?"
Galahad: "NO!'
Nelson: "A million?"
Poxon: "£1.1 million?"
Nelson: £1.2 million?
Poxon: "£1.3m million?
Galahad: "NO, because I'm going to make money no matter what. I know I'm going to beat him, and he knows that."
Concluding on the subject, Galahad then pointed out that if Warrington wanted a two-belt battle he could have signed with Top Rank, rather than heading back to Matchroom.
We now wait and see how long Galahad will be forced to sit back before the fight is actually made.

could you imagine that Galahad beats Warrington next... hearn must have splashed the cash for Warrington he would be left with a non-ticket selling stylistic boring fighter as champion

The rematch doesnt make good business for Hearn. Its simple. I can see Barry being diverted by Hearn to one of the other champions for another title shot.

A rematch all depends on if warrington gets a unification fight. if not does he move up to try and be a 2 weight world champ or stay at feather beat kid again.
I wudnt b surprised if hearn tried to get kid a shot at the other champs hoping he wins which wud make the warrington fight alot attractive with a unification. Cause let's be honest the first fight was awful so its gunna be a hard fight to sell.

Barry is a BJS. No one will want to fight him. Not cus they're scared, but because they'er spoiler boxers.

Not to sure anyone wud really want him as a voluntary but money does talk and hearn cud take a hit for a bigger payday down the line. Realistically has a mandatory after the first fight it will b hard sell and no real interest from the public to see the fight again.

Makes perfect sense : IBF love to recycle challengers + close first fight = Barry put straight back into eliminator, he wins it, now he's mandatory again
Of course, they could've ordered a straight away rematch if it had really been a poor decision

100% correct. The result was iffy, there was an appeal......it was accepted. barry was put into a final eliminator and won it. simples.
If the result was iffy warrington wud of been ordered into a immediate rematch. Not kid getting a final eliminator. Its was a very close fight but no robbery

Yeah, simple probably isn’t accurate but Shakur Stevenson is with Top Rank and Eddie does do good, regular business with Arum.
Perhaps Eddie does line up Warrington-Galahad 2 but I think Eddie knows it would be a tough sell as a headliner. And Warrington must be on a decent contract having just resigned with Matchroom. Surely he’ll be expecting large purses and I’m not sure Warrington-Galahad 2 does good financial business.
