Just listened to him on the latest Boxing Life Stories podcast and just felt compelled to say he comes across as a top, top man. Would urge anyone to have a listen as while it's 2+ hours it flies by.

I know I'm guilty of being a fan-boy when it comes to the whole series, but for me it's yet another great example of where this format just gives you so much more depth and breadth on a fighter's character and career than a written interview can. The work he's doing with youth sounds fantastic and loved his candour regarding his career. Full respect to you Wayne Elcock

a mate of mine trains with him now, she speaks very highly of him. I've seen some of his lads boxing in the local juniors, they always seem very well-schooled.

Seemed to be a fighter that got little attention, I remember him best for getting brutally starched

I’m half way though the pod now, quality listen so far, seems a very sound smart guy.

His performance utterly dismantling Steve Bendall was probably the best most punch-perfect display I have seen in the flesh below European level, he was definitely British title class but was around in a decent era IMO. Smashing shite out of Bendall may not sound like much but the likes of Paul Smith and Darren McDermott couldn’t come close to what Elcock did, it was epic brutal clean shot after clean shot, uppercuts and right hands right from the first bell you were wincing for Bendall.

Elcock , Farnell and Murphy had a good little series of beating and losing to each other.

Remember Elcock being in the kind of domestic fights that used to top the bill on Sky on Friday nights in the '00s.

Feels like a different era of British boxing now.

I remember the fight against Bendall at Villa leisure center,cracking performance,one of my mates was on that card
He used to come down the amateur gym I trained at before he went full time pro,think he used to work for BT.

Who’s that mate? If I remember right James McKinley had an absolute belter against Johnny Musgrove that night, coins chucked in the ring and everything

To be honest,I’ve got my dates and mates confused
I was thinking of Gary Coombes,but that was another show at Villa that Wayne fought on
The one fight that sticks out to me most with James was the Matt Scrivens one for some reason

Haha to be honest the McKinley fight I mentioned may have been another night at the Villa anyway

Lawrence murphy fight i remember well. A bit of a shock

Recently listened to the Duke McKenzie and Gavin Rees pods, both thoroughly enjoyable

Of the ones I've enjoyed so far which are : Ian Darke, Jamie Moore, Adam Booth, Robert Smith, Chris Eubank jnr, Duke McKenzie and Gavin Rees....Tris Dixon is superb at getting the most out of his subjects, just superb. The detail real boxing fans want to learn about, like the amateur fights/career, forgotten fights, career best wins, overseas wins...fantastic! (Hated the Richard Towers pod, the bloke's a plonker and when you look at the above quality doesn't deserve to be mentioned in boxing circles).

Forget the Costello & Bunce pods with them constantly harping on about the heavyweights or PPV, Dixon's pods are the real deal. Costello & Bunce even had the chance to redeem themselves with a pod dedicated to James Cook and right royally f#cked it up

Tris...if you could show those 2 twerps how it's done, James Cook would make an amazing boxing life story

I digress....thanks for the heads-up about the Elcock pod, looking forward to listening to that one.

Good domestic, fringe European level boxer was Elcock.

Beating Bendall is no mean feat and definitely noteworthy. I last saw Bendall working Bryn Wain's corner...his charge doesn't have the lovely skills that Bendall did, but certainly the bravery and bottle !

Yes, Eastman was on the downward curve but Elcock boxed beautifully that night winning the British title and there have been plenty of easier opponents beaten in a British title fight.

Elcock never stood a chance against Abraham's but tried and ended up being knocked out on his feet in about 5 rounds. Macklin also walloped him in quick fashion.

A decent British middleweight with a good career to look back on is a fair summary IMO.
