AP - Two-time Olympic boxing champion Mario Kindelan plans to return to the ring in 2005, saying he has changed his mind about retirement, Cuban media reported Saturday.

Kindelan had announced he would hang up his gloves last August after clinching his second straight Olympic lightweight gold medal in Athens.

At the time, the 32-year-old said he wanted to pursue coaching and spend more time with his family.

But various state-run news agencies reported Saturday that the boxing great said he decided to continue competing to achieve more titles.

Speaking from the eastern city of Holguin, where he was spending the holidays with his family, Kindelan said he plans to compete in a world competition in Moscow in June.

"I am motivated, and without worries about my future plans," he said. "I am going to increase my training."

Kindelan was selected by various Cuban sports organisation as the island's athlete of the year for 2004.

I would probably pay to see Kindelin vs Khan again, one of the fights of the year if you ask me. Khan looked awesome last time, it would be VERY interesting now. Still would favour the Cuban.

France have had amateurs on the pro cards for a while, but have they ever had an international amateur contest? One for some title?

From the top of my head, they had the European Union championships in 2003.

I dont think so.

In Germany they have had amateur fights on Universum cards. There were also pro fights at the "Chemie pokal" which is a very big tournament with the best german, russians, cubans ect.

The cubans will never send just one guy over to fight, it will be a national teams match if they are going to meet.
