Boxing Montlhy, the great monthly boxing magazine, has folded.
This has happened straight after their publishers Kelsey bought Boxing News, so make of that what you will.
Really sad times, been a subscriber for many years and it's been a consistently excellent magazine.

Gutted I've never missed a copy in 12 years, genuinely sad, I wish the team well, Graham Houston is one of the best around and has been for decades, I hope he stays involved in some capacity

Think it first came out circa 1989 around the time of the Watson-Benn fight. Brilliant publication

Really upsetting news, thought they all pulled together remarkably after the tragic loss of Glyn and in some ways the magazine seemed stronger, it's still the best out there imo and it's a shame business realities take over.
I hope someway we can get some of the older articles, previews & reviews out there as despite being a subscriber for 23 years there's plenty of the early stuff I wish I'd read.
Thanks to all the staff over the years for striving and achieving the title of best boxing mag out there.

I remember buying the first copy back in 1989 - a fantastic magazine headed by the legend that was Glyn Leach.
I wrote on here a few years ago when Glyn wrote an amazing editorial and probably - one of the most inspirational things I have ever read about changing your life and how he managed to change his - so I wrote about it here and Glyn very kindly PM'd me and said he would send me a copy of the magazine with the article he wrote - and he did.
RIP - a very sad loss.

Don't forget Nigel who held the magazine together following Glyns passing and was always a nice fella to deal with on the commercial/advertising side.
Strange that as a former advertiser I was sent a copy from BM just last week with a compliment slip to contact them?

I was a long time subscriber of Boxing News in the 80's and started to get Boxing Monthly when that came out. I bought it every month till the mid 90s when i ended both subs.

Very sad to see it go. And as much as I love Graham Houston, the finest boxing writer out there, he never had the editorial strength that Glyn had, who brilliantly steered the publication into an absolute canβt miss take on the fight game. Surely the best boxing periodical there has ever been, along with boxing news in its heyday, in the 80s perhaps.
I worked there for awhile in 89, on the advertising side, and was completely useless

until Nigel took over.. Steve and Tony Connelly ( ex box news) ran the mag back then & did a great job
RIP Glyn

Great shame. Little by little the 'old' ways of physical media are dying out.
Was always a good read, I remember buying the first one. I also have a hazy memory of them proclaiming on a cover that Naseem Hamed was going to be a world champ, this was right at the start of his career.

This is very disappointing news, I loved BM and enjoyed every issue.
That leaves us with Boxing News and The Ring, which is always about four months out of date.

Iβm not too surprised. Still sorry to see it go though.

This is indeed tragic news! Having subscribed for 28 years, it will indeed feel as if a part of my life is now missing!!!
Undoubtedly the greatest boxing publication of this or any other time!
( I also remember their declaration that Prince Naseem would be British boxing's next superstar, before his first pro fight. )
Thanks for everything, Graham, and the late, great Glyn.

That's a real shame. I bought the first issue and loved it ever since. Great magazine with great fight reporting. Hope something else starts up in its place as it will be missed.

Very sad.
I used to buy Boxing Monthly in the 90s as a teenager and was always a fascinating read. Nothing lasts for ever. Another example of this.

The Ring is crap. I don't know why anybody would buy it.

I used to get it every month but it's gone down hill fast and I only ever get it on the odd occasion now. I've never really understood why it was always so out of date either, someone on here explained once but I still didn't get it.

A real shame.
I remember when it first came out in May '89. Sillouette of Tyson on the front cover.
It proclaimed itself as the UK's first all colour boxing mag ! Don't that make you feel old ?
Barry J Hugman set it up and ran it for a time then handed it over to someone else.
Fortunately I have every issue from May '89 to Dec '99
I wonder if Boxing News will be next to be honest. The Ring is really poor value for money now sadly.

Amazed any printed publication is still going, in any industry.
I was in the business for 23 years, and owned a regional Cornish title for 19 years. Sold that last year thank god. Not only are printed publications irrelevent in the market place, they are mostly run by dinosoars without a clue about the changing digital marketplace and have no real grasp of how to engage with the public anymore.
I am not sad by its demise though, as I did not even know it still printed. But I did enjoy it hugely back when I was a regular reader and really enjoyed the work of Glyn, a real loss there.
