Billy Joel Saunders had his boxing license pulled by by The British Boxing Board of Control after he offended 3rd wave feminists in a video that surfaced on Twitter. The Canelo/Saunders fight is now in jeopardy.

Ridiculous suspension, but they're just satisfying the puftas with nothing better to do than cry. He'll be reinstated when he can fight.

Ya, he may be a stupid mental midget who does stupid sh!t like this over and over, and has already been suspended and should know this would do it too, but he'll end up fine. He's got the apologies out already, he knows how to play the 'I did it because I'm depressed' card, and of course he's got the right power with him, he'll be totally fine and won't end up delayed in his career any more than he would've been without it.

Smartest thing that he could have done really. Nobody gives a crap about this sport any more Canelo can get his MexiAmerican millions fighting Billy Joe or just some hoe but if Billy does manage to get this into the mainstream media then all of the sudden who knows maybe this fight becomes a tiny bit more marketable.

Jimmy Carr includes domestic violence jokes in his stand-up routine... and they're easily accessible on YouTube. Frankie Boyle also jokes about similarly dark themes. These guys escape criticism.

Billy Joe Saunders attempted to tell an edgy joke, but his timing, material and delivery were terrible. What he did wasn’t funny, but it’s obvious his intention was to make people laugh.

And apparently, unless you’re a comedian, you’re not allowed tell politically-incorrect jokes nowadays.

Billi Joe is stupid, lets face it, but he’s entitled to free speech, like everyone else.

And he shouldn’t be condemned for attempting to do the very same things others are praised for and earn a living from.

This ruling must be a joke, right?

Billy Joel Saunders? Since when? This is Billy Joe Saunders not Floyd Mayweather - there is a line.

Trouble with jokes is not everyone gets them, but I'm pretty certain Saunders audience got it.

Who'd have thought censorship, after continually loosening up in the post WW2 era would now start to ramp up to these levels? I'd wouldn't be overly concerned if he was joking about deliberately breaking the lockdown.

But then, hopefully, I'd always be amongst those who got the joke. I don't get this one though.

What's next? Rewriting history? Introducing thought crime legislation?

Thankfully I doubt whether BJS was intending to fight here in any case.

Besides, I'd have thought the world needed more humour right now not less.

BJS just has had it so so tough, he's such an unfortunate unlucky man who is being treated so poorly, probably because he's a proud gypsy man. All these dudes lose their pens on him, he's not allowed to fight because of his Ingle's Pringles, and then now these suspensions. Some obvious racism, we should rally around him, holding hands in songs of support.

Eddie Hearn claimed yesterday that Saunders would apply for a license in Nevada if the BBBofC impose a lengthy suspension on him. However, he doesn’t think he’ll need to resort to doing this, because he suspects that Billy Joe will simply be served with a fine and be allowed to resume his career immediately (when the hearing is eventually held).

That being said, it’s looking increasingly likely that the coronavirus isn’t going to stop infecting people anytime soon, which means Canelo will probably skip Saunders and schedule a September bout against GGG in September instead, since that’s where DAZN’s priorities lie.

Back in the days when men were men and we didn't have phones or tablets or iPhones, Billy would have never been able to post this to social media and would have probably been down a mine instead. There was none of this PC bollocks down the mines.

Bring back mines, I say.

Boxing has had so many black eyes, they aren't even black anymore. Here's the deal. It's bad for business and what he said was really bad. I think he should be suspended for 6 months,

BJS is a silly boy. Doesn't he realize you aren't allowed to tell off-colour jokes in the UK anymore? George Orwell wrote about the "Thought-Police" in his novel entitled "1984". It's taking a lot longer than he anticipated but we're slowly getting there.

Yet there are still people talking about freedom of speech and claiming it's a free country. To those I say "Get with the times". Whatever happened to the principle "I vehemently disagree with what you are saying but I will fight to defend your right to say it? Sorry didn't intend to get so heavy on a boxing forum.

Billy Joe is a stupid arse hole, but anyone that chooses to go against the politically correct thought police are automatically deemed as being a racist, homophobic or sexist.

Saunders is human being and is clearly stupid, but he isn’t a bigot.

He just doesn’t realise how stupid his actions can occasionally be.

Ironic thing is the Suspension was reason most people even heard about this. I had friends searching for the video after reading he got suspended

Comedy is a tricky business and so far Billy Joe's attempts at slapstick and witty repartee haven't always been successful. In fact it's difficult to think of many boxers who were apart from Ricky Hatton and the Raging Bull himself Jake La Motta. Let's face it Muhammad Ali only got away with what he did by sheer force of personality, and even he wasn't above employing scriptwriters.

So here are a few tips for the boy Saunders if he wants to wants to have another stab at it.

Think about timing - maybe this sketch doesn't work so well during a lockdown.

Think about a better punchline.

Perhaps a bit of self effacement might have gone down better. I'm sure if you had your wife turning up right at the end and chasing you off into the sunset Benny Hill style, that may have gone down better with the more liberal end of your audience - or perhaps not.

Finally you could think about a role model to follow. You might be better off with someone like Stan Laurel (who seemed to have preceded you in boxing style if nothing else) rather than trying to emulate the difficult style of a certain Frankie Boyle.

Don't give up Billy, comedy is tricky but you've plenty of talent that just requires a bit of polish. Besides we all need more humour right now not less.

I'm sure there are plenty of good women out there who have suffered from domestic abuse who will be appalled by BJS' piss poor attempts at humour.

A ban under the current circumstances is pretty pointless, but the board have to be seen to do something.

Boxers have a bit of a reputation among the masses of being mindless brutes. This sort of thing doesn't help that image.

Plenty of boxers are decent guys and a lot (including BJS) do a great deal for their communities, but that doesn't make the news, this sort of thing does. So the board need to clamp down on it even if it is only to save a bit of face.

Don't see why he couldn't just fight somewhere else. (after Corona that is) This is not the kinda thing that would warrant suspension in most Boxing commissions surely.

While it was stupid, and pointless, and not funny. I would also hope he didn't apologize for it.

It's time people stop apologizing for offending whiners. If you're offended hey, stay in your house and watch Sesame Street because in the real world people say sh*t you don't like sometimes.
