What is the genesis of this. seems like alot of the best fighters in boxing generally come from Eastern Europe... Russia, Ukraine and the other Post-Soviet Nations. Roy Jones said something slightly controversial that they tend to have the best amateur programs (outside of Cuba) and that they might take over American boxing.
Lomachenko,Usyk... Wlad dominated HW boxing for a decade etc. etc.
the only great western white fighter today is Fury, most of the best European boxers come from the Eastern bloc

The EE countries still don't turn that many guys pro actually. The USA has like 10x as many pros as a lot of these countries, and has more HWS alone for example than Ukraine has total boxers .
They do well for their numbers but the lack of numbers means they don't have a lot of depth in many divisions, unless and sometimes even if you take EE as a whole. They have good amateur systrems there and with more pro support systems now they can achieve success even with smaller numbers.
UK is the boxing stud now though

they tend to stay in the amateurs longer than American fighters, alot of them tend to start Pro later in their careers..... Loma started at 25, Usyk at 26

I don't know. It wasn't so long ago that there very few few or no fighters with an Eastern European origin. That was 30 years ago. Most were not allowed to turn professional.
Now they are all over the map, excepted for the extreme lower weights. Why are they doing so well now? Talent + work ethic I say. I'm not buying that American NFL football NBA basketball is stealing talent, that would only be at heavyweight. What about light heavy, and middle? Guys that size aren't in the NFL or NBA for the most part.

I agreed with all your post until you wrote this.
Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch, Ricky Hatton, Kelly Pavlik, Sergio Martinez, Felix Sturm, Arthur Abraham, Canelo Alvarez, Carl Frampton, Jurgen Braehmer, George Groves etc etc of recent times
Currently alongside Fury there's
Canelo Alvarez( arguably P4P number !), Josh Taylor ( unified champ top 10 P4Per), Josh Warrington, Callum Smith Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant, Luke Campbell, Andy Ruiz Jr, Carl Frampton, etc
The UKs improvement in boxing has been just as major a force as the brilliant Eastern Euros.
