I don't understand, I thought Joe Joyce was the Gold belt holder..
Now it's Helenius.
Is that like an honourary title... Like it says at the top of the thread.

Well, the WBA is surely consistant. Consistantly silly.

Some solid fighters in the top ten, not sure how Bryan is above all of them though

Could you imagine AJ selecting him for an voluntary defence.

The GOLD belt was vacant during last months' ratings and was discussed on a separate thread, because no one understood why this was the case. There were no communication made by the WBA or Joe Joyce to explain what had happened.

I know I’ve posted this before, but the stats have changed. And to be honest, I really can’t help myself, because the WBA heavyweight title situation is really bad, especially considering the most recent developments with their GOLD title:
• For the record, Trevor Bryan earned his shot at the interim WBA strap by defeating two fighters with just FOUR WINS in 48 BOUTS between them
• Trevor Bryan captured the WBA's vacant interim title by beating BJ Flores, a former cruiserweight contender who was inactive for fourteen months, lost his previous bout at cruiserweight and then only managed to subsequently overcome two boxers with 26 losses between them
• Trevor Bryan hasn’t fought for more than 20 months, but still retains ownership of the WBA’s interim world title
• Manual Charr hasn’t fought for more than 28 months, but still retains ownership of the WBA’s regular world title
• Neither Trevor Bryan nor Manual Charr have any plans to fight in the near future and the WBA haven’t ordered them to defend their silly titles
• The WBA imposed a purse bid deadline for the Manuel Charr versus Trevor Bryan bout for the 17th May 2019. However, both camps failed to agree terms and the WBA hasn’t bothered to do anything about it for almost a year
• Manual Charr recently claimed the following: “I am not interested in a fight against Dillian Whyte. He is not a sportsman and not a challenge for me. He is an irrelevant man… This athlete should not be given a platform for a world championship.”
• Even though Fres Oquendo rejected a guaranteed opportunity to face Manuel Charr, he made the following claim: “I want my $325,000 escrow funds and to be declared champion by challenger’s default because of drug use which caused me and my boxing career irreparable damages…”
• It’s been almost six years since Fres Oquendo’s most recent victory and he continues to be classed amongst the top-15 in the world by the WBA. He’s on the cusp of turning 47 years of age and the last time he competed was in 2014

At least everyone gets a good laugh out of it. So some joy those the WBA bring.
But also that list got the smell of politics on it. Didn't Helenius get rated like around 6 last month? Haha, whatahell Al Haymon has some sway with them I guess, since now his polish tank is back at the same spot. Or did anyone else mention this? Or notice this?

The sooner everyone ignores the WBA and stops recognising them as a reputable governing body, the better.

I assume Helenius became the WBA Gold champion when he beat Kownacki last month.
Does anyone know for sure?

Nice April Fools joke from the WBA.
I actually look forward to their ratings coming out because they usually provide much needed light relief; particularly welcome during this lockdown period where can't go anywhere or do anything.
