Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no bouts of any kind (pro, amateur, or even MMA) have been conducted since March 19--some 14 days ago. John has checked the database and determined nothing of this sort has occurred before--not even during WWI or WWII.

I have done a feature on this topic in next week's Boxing News if anyone is interested. It will be in the Yesterday's Heroes section at the back.

I think from 1917 seven of the eight world champs were out of action until the end of the decade! Jess Willard, Barney Levinsky, Mike O'Dowd, Benny Leonard, Pete Herman and Jimmy Wilde all sitting on their titles due to circumstances beyond their control. It must have been a terrible time to be a contender in your prime.
Willard, Levinsky, Herman and Wilde all lost when they came back too.
