What i dont understand is.
Why wait 3 month + for things in general to get better. Wouldnt it be better for all of us if we did a total quarantane, meaning everybody stays at home for 10 days, no new corona cases and put an end to that situation.

The year isn’t done for boxing just yet.

I feel that journeymen and novices will be forced, due to financial commitments, to resume competing as soon as possible, regardless their physical conditioning.

In terms of world-rated fighters, some of them may only be willing to resume their careers after six months or so, since the lockdown could resort in muscle atrophy and a significant loss of general athleticism.

It might have taken some of these guys several years to achieve contender/world champion status, so they’ll be reluctant to take huge risks with their careers, by rushing things and quickly engaging in fights whilst being out-of-shape.

The wealthiest of fighters, like Canelo & AJ, will probably have lavish private home gyms, as well as the best quality nutrition catered for them, so they'll be unaffected, whereas everyone else can only make the best out of a bad situation.

So there might be one or two marquee bouts being staged towards the tail end of the calendar year, but it’ll likely be big names facing overmatched opposition that are willing to become sacrificial lambs for the sake of receiving a decent payday.

I've got a horrible feeling that this Covid-19 threat is going to be around for a lot longer than we hope it will, and the lockdown will end before the disease is eradicated out of economic necessity, which will in turn prologue the existence of the problem. Eventually I expect we'll just have to go about our business and hope for the best. Boxing will be just a part of that.

How long the lockdown lasts in different countries will be dependent on economics and I don't envisage it lasting out the year whatever the medical circumstances.

It's a race on all kinds of fronts. Seeing how we've all gone for lockdown - we'd better try and make it stick. It could and should work in flattening the formidable curve.

God knows when a vaccine will be ready - and who wants a dicing with death gamble with hospitalisation and ventilators?

matchmakers are talking about June dates already for smaller club shows. This is funny as most guys at that lower level (favorites and opponents) will have had fukkin zero chance to train in a proper gym, much less spar. So yeah, desperate opponents who do not train anyway will be ready as usual. However , even the lower level guys that are favorites or hometown guys don't have the balls of years past, and will probably be all kind of out of shape, snowflake millennial boxers stress eating and not working out at home. Even though these prima donnas can beat the non training opponent, years of PPV has spoiled them and they will want a full 10 week "camp" (camp meaning stay at home, and not actually go away to a camp, which is what it really means) to beat the piss out of some freaking meth or crack fiend in a 4 rounder...

So yeah, opponents will be ready, stars wont, and none of these young starting-their-career- millennial boxers will be..

I would love to see just a card of hungry opponents vs hungry opponents. They are throwbacks to true boxing when guys were literally fighting to eat , and fought anyone and everyone.

In the US cards will be going on in late June with limitations I bet..... but no hometown guys will be ready... new generation will be out of shape and no confidence

No, the year for boxing isn't over. Things should be back to normal by the summer, and we'll get some key fights in the October to December time frame.

There do appear to be a small number of Asian democracies where the leadership and the populace take things like public health seriously enough that plans were in place for an outbreak, and have been followed pretty successfully. But the major Western democracies of today can't hold a candle to that. You can't manage even a single day of "total quarantine" when your nation is full of stupid, selfish "don't tread on me" assholes who will disobey the order because they can.

fullly aggree. a lot of people are very "me, me, me" kind of people. arrogant and selfish. but than they disguise it at humanitarian. they vegetarians, tell everybody what to do and what not to do and how to make earth a better place. when in reality they only focus on 1 person and thats themselves. like a friend of mine, he always was very selfish, always came to lateto meetings etc. i dont have a problem when someone is 10-20 min late, but he would always come 1-3 hrs late, just disrespectful. he abused his body with drugs. he was selfish, always things had to go his way, he always had to be in charge.
now he is vegetarian and preaches about the good and the bad and that we need to help each other and this n that.
i just to to myself, what an hypocrit. he rarly was a good friend. he was always a selfish guy with not much empathy and you act like mother theresa. instead of changing the world, first change yourself and be a good friend!

i think the boxing year is over, but its fighting so when the new season starts no excuses for losing, should always be on point for a fight
