Name your HW prospects?

Does anyone have any prospects/up and coming HWs they think will one day become legitimate world champions?

No point mentioning Tony Yoka etc.

I think Daniel Dubious and Arslanbek Makhmudov might make the grade depending on fights. Any others to keep an eye on?

If Dubois gets past Joyce then he'll be the leading prospect by some distance

Filip Hrgovic, Mahammadrasul Majidov, Arslanbek Makhmudov, Ivan Dychko, Bakhodir Jalolov, Vladyslav Sirenko, Viktor Vykhryst

The strongest prospects imo ^ A few of them should become world champ, but Hrgovic is the one I think is a certainty.

At that point he's a contender I'd say, he'd already be among the more deserving guys to fight for titles or at least eliminators

Think he would batter Joe Joe

I agree. Hits like a truck and is fast. I think the only question which might have been answered is can he take a shot?

Nice list, but a few on there better get a move on if they are still being considered as prospects:

Daniel Dubois (22)
• Evgenyi Romanov (34)
• Vladyslav Sirenko (25)
• Efe Ajagba (25)
• Arslanbek Makhmudov (30)
• Filip Hrgović (27)
• Ivan Dychko (29)
• Tony Yoka (27)
• Magomedrasul Medzhidov (33)

For context:
Joseph Parker (28)
Anthony Joshua (30)
Ruiz Jr. (30)
Tyson Fury (31)
Michael Hunter (31)
Dillian Whyte (32)
Oscar Rivas (32)

Another that looks to have some promise is Frank Sanchez Faure at 27 cuban-years old.
He looked very good in his last outing against Joey Dawejko.

I feel sanchez got a bit too ambitious when he lied about his age. if i were to give a true over under line, i think 37 would be about the even money point.
p.s i'd take the overs.

Most of those mentioned rather pick themselves so keep in mind that my list below is restricted to only those who haven't been listed before in this thread so most won't necessarily be as hot a prospect as the aforementioned (but some will):

Zhan Kossobutskiy, David Adeleye, Jarad Anderson, Roney Hines, Lenier Pero, Peter Kadiru, Artem Suslenkov, Christian Thun, Oleksandr Zakhozhyi, Petar Milas, Shigabudin Aliev, Guido Vianello, Mladen Miljas, Fabio Wardley, ... I think that'll do to be getting on with.

Edit: I just noticed the caveat in the OP about thinking they might become world champion but then I don't seem to be alone in having overlooked or ignored this criterion. :D

What do we consider a prospect in the heavyweight division though?

Under 25?
Less than a certain number of pro fights?

I think age can be misleading HW’s mature later, so I’d say fights.

It just feels a bit strange in my head listing guys in their mid 30s as prospects.

We need some younger guys breaking through who can carry the sport into the next generation.

A young heavyweight champion is always good for the sport

I wouldn't impose strict parameters on that. I'd say a prospect is anyone who has serious aspirations to achieve at an international level, who has neither succeeded in the attempt yet, nor had it firmly established that such lofty ambitions are beyond their capability.

I think that covers all categories of fighter that get described as prospects be they novices with a few wins under their belts, 30+ year old top amateurs trying their luck kn the pro game, or any pro that isn't a contender but isn't yet resigned to being 'the opponent' or a 'jobbing pro'.

I'd agree with this. It's inclusive where it needs to be and exclusive where it needs to be. It's obviously got an aspect of subjectivity but this is boxing where, unfortunately, everything seems to be subjective.

I don't think you can put an age or # on who is a prospect. A guy in his early 30s just off a boat in Cuba could be a prospect. An early loss or two doesn't mean you're not a prospect.

I'd define a prospect as someone with a winning record, who is not yet a champ or top 10er, who reasonable people think has potential.

I think a prospect is anyone with a decent chance of becoming world champion yet hasnt fought at a contender level yet.
Good way to rank is just by % chance of them ever winning a world title.

stealing someone elses list with age in bracket Then very quickly guessing (very inaccurate) this would be my chance of each of these guys winning a world title, (not WBA REG), it could be very wrong and it dosent rank them on whos a better boxer, or who would beat who, just who i think will go places. so to rank prospects id just go highest percentage first, lowest last.

.Daniel Dubois (22) 85%
• Evgenyi Romanov (34) 5%
• Vladyslav Sirenko (25) ?no idea %
• Efe Ajagba (25) 30%
• Arslanbek Makhmudov (30) 20%
• Filip Hrgović (27) 75%
• Ivan Dychko (29) 25%
• Tony Yoka (27) 65%
• Magomedrasul Medzhidov (33) 10%

I didn't overtly say this when I added the ages to EO's list, but the problem they are going to have is to be a World Champion they have to beat the current top heavyweights. That is unless they are hoping the top guys retire so they can pick up a vacant title.

How many of that list above the age of 25 are realistically going to beat the current top guys in a world title fight?

Dubois is the youngest at 22, so it is most likely he will be a world champion.

Even if you look at Hrgovic, he looks like he has the tools and has a good volume of amateur fights, but he really seems like he is wasting his potential to develop by fighting so infrequently at pro level for his current age.
