Boxing Magazines and the things we read

The Ring,KO,Boxing Scene and a few others ,were once the main source of current events before the Internet.
Some things could be taken as fact no doubt.Other things proved to be found false.
Some things I remember:
Hilario Zapata lost a fight and afterwards complaining that his handler got him a pair of 2 left shoes."I just couldn't move right"Zapata said.
Irish John Collins was quoted saying his trainer purposely taped his hands so the tape pulled his wrist hair, making him angry to his advantage come fight time...
Alan Minter saying taking Sibsons hooks were like getting hit in the face with cinderblocks.
Angel Robinson Garcia said during his losing fight with Roberto Duran, that in a clinch Duran said "Monkey you know a lot".
Sugar Ray Robinson was well known for pulling out of a fight at the last second, sometimes at the weigh in citing "he just didn't feel good or didn't feel right".
That Joe Louis and Jersey Joe Walcott were stablemates(i think) and Walcott showed exceptional skills but when they were ready to leave out and start their pro career,Walcott was stricken with a sickness and Joe went ahead.Once Walcott had healed,he was married with kids and had to work delaying the start of his career.
Ali was so arrogant that if he needed coaching ,his trainer couldn't tell him "do this or don't do this",because Ali would ignore it.BUT if they said "Hey Champ what do you think about giving this a try",Ali would then comply.
Jake Lamotta was so jealous of his Playboy Bunny wife Vicki, that after her saying his opponent was "cute, handsome etc",Lamotta mauled him instead of koing him kept him up to smash him up.
When Mike Tyson was a teenager he said something inappropriate to a girl and TeddyAtlas took him up on a rooftop and put a gun to his head threatening if it ever happened again he'd kill him.
Tony Ayala jr was 14 yrs old and sparred 4 rds with then Champion Pipino Cuevas and had "Cuevas on eggshells"and afterwards Cuevas was muttering Incredible incredible.
With the internet certain things have been brought to light, one being the Ayala story was fabricated by the Ayalas for promotional purposes and never took place and the Teddy Atlas story may have been.
But once upon a time ,print, word of mouth and the occasional tv reporting were the only ways we received information about the fighters and sport.
I can't verify whether any is true or false but I did find it interesting.
Does anyone else have anything they read back then?
