Did anyone see him the other week, he was beating a guy who was world champ, got kicked and knocked down, and they stopped the fight even though Botha looked absolutely fine. On the replay it looked like the kick knocked him over rather than stunned him.

I thought Botha gave a bloody good account of himself, and the decision to stop him reeked.

Was that against Bonjasky? I didn't see the Botha or Hoost fights but the final was a cracking battle with Musashi. And what a 1-round war it was between Goodridge & Abedi.

I see Goodridge got blown out by Ray Sefo on new years eve, while Bob Sapp drew with Jerome Le Banner in an alternate K-1/MMA contest.

james: Botha has really improved hasnt he. looked good in there, Bonjasky won the K1 last year and after beating Botha won it this year.

Botha would have won on points but got dropped just 5 seconds before the bell and consequently lost on points (he wasnt stopped)

Assuming Botha continues a steady improvement he could win the grand prix next year and the $400,000 prize!!!

Kilburn: although it was officially a draw I think Le Banner beat Sapp fairly handily but the had agreed it would be Draw should it go the distance.

Did you see the Thai guy knock out Big MO (giving away 50kg) incredible high kick.....

Yes it was, he was mashing the shit out of his ribs for the first 3 rounds, in the last round Botha began to tire, but if I was scoring it (not that I'm sure how K-1 is scored) I would have Botha 3 rounds up, he was taking a bit of stick in the last round, but was still firing back big body shots, when he took a kick to the head. It looked like he was off balance and tired, rather than hurt, because the shot didn't really land very cleanly at all.

The referee checked Botha, who looked absolutely fine, and then inexplicably it was ended with Botha on his feet looking perfectly stable.

Is this normal in K-1.

No mate I didn't see Mo get taken out, must have been a heck of an impact.

Yeah I hear Le Banner pissed the K-1 rounds and did enough to share the final MMA round so should really have got the nod.

I dont watch all that rubbish mate have seen a few UFC/Pride fights etc but on the whole they are fairly boring and lacking in skill.

I thought you were right into UFC? The last one I saw was Phil Barroni in a cage getting outdone by a guy who already beat him once. That Barroni can really punch but get inside the storm and he's well beatable.

Fedor is the man... he fights in pride.... he would school anyone in UFC....

the guys power is incredible punches really hard on the ground and has superb submission skills....

has only ever looked in trouble once when fajita caught him and had him wobbly

the thing is the guy looks like nothing, a flabby middle age man..... but he probably has the best claim to "hardest man in the planet"

What!!! How the fornicate did he do enough to win that fight. How are rounds scored. He lost the first three rounds easily, he just didn't land anything.

I suspect that kicks score far more heavily than punches in k-1.

My impression of it anyway was that it's shit, the fighters are nowhere near as fit as boxers and the action is pretty boring on the whole. Too much grappling and knees.

With Boxing killing itself, Mixed Martial Arts (ie Pride and UFC) is taking the new generation of fight fans.

Sadly you're right. Apparently Bethnal green sells out all the time when they have MMA shows there.

p4p... hmmm i'd say BJ Penn or Genki Sudo. Wanderlei is great though. Mark Hunt beat him the other day though (although 20kg heavier)

i have been to a few shows..... quite a funny crowd, mix of real gangsters, plastic gangsters, strippers and computer nerds...

I went to a few good shows in Ceasers in Streatham in the summer.

I might have to go along and check one out, perhaps we could have a boxrec meet there, would be fornicating hilarious. Could end up with claret all round mind. I used to live up the road from Caesar's, can't say I was ever that tempted to go in there though.

Good old Caesars - do they still do £20 quid entry all you can drink on a saturday? Needless to say its a right riot at chucking out time but quite easy to pick up the old trouts...

Knockout...I did see the fight between Silva and Hunt, although Hunt got the highly controversial split decision, I personally thought Silva did enough:

*How many times did he take down Hunt? (too many)
*Hunt had a 5 and a half stone weight advantage
*Hunt received a yellow card for negative fighting

although to be fair Hunt did nail Silva on the stand-up.

havent seen the whole fight, but although Hunt did have serious weight advantage he was only having a 3rd (?) MMA fight which deserves big respect as well...

Yeah from what Ive read and heard previously(as Im not really into K1) Hunt is suppossed to be one tough f*cker.

Always amazes me how versatile these fighters are, switching between the codes. Hunt's third fight in MMA and he definetly knew what he was doing.

Hunt definetly gets my respect.

yeah, if you get to see Hunts fights with Le Banner (at the time THE hardest striker in the world outside boxing) you appreciate how tough he is.... Took huge kicks and punches to his head.... and then KO'd Le Banner in the first fight... second fight Le Banner wouldnt be denied gave Hunt a brutal beating but could only drop him with a low kick. Hunts legs were black
