Obvious one is big Aud. Getting a mega money deal and the big billing after turing pro. Still had a more than decent career looking back but could definitely fall in to the category as 'hype job' in hindsight.... I loved Ryan Rhodes when i was a boy. Watching him on all the Naz undercards. Everyone seemed to have him as a world beater but then he ran in to Otis Grant who knew a bit too much for him at that age/stage in his career. He went a bit off the rails after the that form wise but finished his career with a flourish. I enjoyed the latter stages of his career. Again, had a career to be proud of but never lived up to the hype.

They're the 2 off the top of my head. What others are there and is it fair to name the two i mentioned as hype jobs? I'm not sure!

Danny Williams as well come to think of it. He was very highly thought of but didn't always turn up motivated. Again, he had a good career and was a bit of a cult hero...

I want to say Errol Christie but feel that might be a bit unfair as he had justifiable hype based on hia amateur career. However, it didn't quite work out for him in the way many people expected it to.

David Price is an obvious one, Sky were hailing him as the next big thing and we all know what happened there...

Dodson ficked himself with being self managed it sounds good but why Will a promotor bother building you up know you'll leave .

Wasn’t David Walker expected to go further than he did? He had a good record but he never really took it to the next level.

I remember Sky having a hard on for Paul Appleby at one point.

Yes, he was part of Mick Hennesey's class of 2002. He got a fair bit of coverage on the BBC but didn't live up to expectations. A defeat by Jimmy Vincent and that see-saw fight with Spencer Fearon before being completely demolished by Roman Karmizan put paid to any hopes of super stardom.

Yeah, that’s right. I‘d forgotten about that. He came to Belfast to fight Martin Lindsay. It was quite a big event domestically.

Aye his career never really took off, I remember Karmazin losing a very close decision to Cory Spinks and he kind of fizzled out after that, last I remember of him he got sparked out by Alex Bunema at Madison Square Garden on the undercard of RJJ vs Felix Trinidad.
