Due to the virus I've read that some promoters are discussing Fights without a crowd.I didn't really read it indepth but from what I read,I guess it would be cornermen,cameramen? And like PPV.
Could it work? From the birth of the sport,Spectators were a large part.The rich,powerful,and stars attended.It was a place of prestige.


I read that Anthony Joshua was willing to take a pay cut to fight Tyson Fury in private without an audience.
In this case it's by choice for Joshua,because he cites his psyche and (in my words) nerves as a reason. He'd perform better he said whereas Fury could perform anywhere under any circumstances.Joshua admits he'd be distracted by the crowd if they booed etc(is my take),where Fury is fighting his fight regardless of the audience satisfaction.

I don't fault Joshua because I know some fighters that are truly elite until they step in a crowd then they underperform.

But for something as prestigious as the ultimate title in sports,don't you kind of think it should be public?(if not for the virus restrictions)

Some fighters feed of the crowd.Camacho?? And shouldn't that be expected of a professional athlete?
I think so.

Very few audiences are lively enough to really add much to the viewing experience tbh, lot of crowds are pretty dull , not everyone can have fans as good as in the UK

Not ppv, big fights with boxers being so overpaid need the live gate.

I watched a couple fights recently and don't remember who exactly but one was outside and both were full of empty seats.
Name fighters too.I would think thats a huge letdown after all the commitment they put into the fight.
I don't know.Some could care less.

Never happen in a million years.

That fight wouldn't happen until next year at earliest anyway

I wouldn't want any major fight held in front of no audience.

Tune up bouts, and fights amongst prospects. Fine.

But a truly major bout, no way.

1) I'd miss the atmosphere on a big fight like that for sure.

2) There's just no way in hell they could ever afford to pay the fighters without the live gate revenue for a major fight.

They should have tried this already.

Anthony Joshua also said that he was willing to spar Tyson Fury, to help his fellow Brit prepare for the Wilder rematch.

Therefore, you need to realise that fighters, even those as “noble” as Anthony Joshua, often talk complete bóllócks.

Anyway, several promoters and big-name fighters have scoffed at the idea of behind closed door (crowdless) events, simply because it results in them being paid much less than they’re accustomed to.

So it’s safe to assume that boxing will resume (behind closed doors) in those geographical areas where the lockdown/rules are being relaxed (assuming the authorities within those regions allow the staging of these type of events), but don’t expect to see any really high profile bouts for the foreseeable future (at least until the venues are finally permitted to allow a paying audience to watch ringside).

That being said, Eddie Hearn claimed today that he’d consider staging the Whyte-Povetkin bout behind closed doors, which surprised me a tad, but I really doubt any bigger fights would be staged in the same sort of environment.

With NZ and Aussie opening their bubbles, Joseph Parker is in talks to fight in a few months.
DAZN is in the mix as part of an Australasia expansion.
