Eddie Hall vs The Mountain

This caught my eye earlier today...

A couple of the Worlds Strongest Men are going to fight in the ring to settle their "feud"....

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/boxing/s ... ocid=ientp

Each are getting paid seven figures by the look of it. Not sure either have any real fighting experience, but I wouldn't fancy taking a right-hander off either. The last time I saw The Mountain fighting he crushed someone's skull with his bare hands.... :o :OhYes:

1 minute in and both these giants will be blowing out their arses and throwing punches more akin to a grandmother waving a handbag.

Probably. He's 6ft 9in, 205 kgs, and was worlds strongest man.

If he walked towards me after the bell rang I'd just opt to soil my pants and jump over the top rope.

No way, there is a video of him sparring in off topic as soon as he catches a few he doesn’t look like he wants to be there

This footage from a few years back is quite telling. Hafthor is full on bulldozing in winging “punches” without care. Put as soon as he gets one in the face (left jab at 49 secs) his body language soon changes. Starts turn away when throwing punches and is blowing out of his arse soon after.

This was a while ago though, so he will have improved, particularly if he’s been train specially for it.

Eddie Hall sparred with Scott Lawton and moved a bit better, although he had about a 15 stone weight advantage on him.

This seems to be a pretty representative strong man showing doesn't it, start out being more aggressive , but about 30 seconds and a bop in the face later =exhausted and gun shy

All the strong dudes seem shocked when they get hit, like they thought boxing gloves was supposed to be like getting hit with pillows or that their massive heads wouldnt mind it

Eddie is deceptively fit and athletic. He used to be national champion in 1500m freestyle swimming when he was younger and actually holds a CrossFit world record.

Of course he's not boxing fit, but I think he's good for 3 or 4 rounds.

Best off having 30 second rounds with one minute breaks otherwise it will be a hug-athon
Give them little gloves too

I'm 6,2 and 11 stone wet through and I'd box there ears off, they can't box and I doubt they can street fight unless they get a hold of you. Stick to what you know lads

I'm not joking here, and maybe it's just the beer talking but i reckon i could take them in a stand up boxing fight. In the street i'd need to bite fukk outta them but in an officiated fight in a ring i'm pretty sure i'd waste both of them.

Guys, they 'd only have to grab any body part and squeeze in the street and your done, let alone a getting you in a bearhug. These guys are gorillas, it's hard to fathom how strong. Martial arts myths and movies have downplayed just what an asset freakish, raw strength is in a ruck. Grab you, rag you into a wall or floor, stomp you out. I met Geoff capes when he's old and crippled, struggles with stairs.... Still a fornicating brute that would be more than formidable. Only a seriously well trained and well founded fighter does them, if they don't get KO'd early doors.

So do you think these guys would dominate MMA? They can grab and squeeze and throw and pound there

read post again in its entirety mate. A) I specified "in the street" B) I ended it saying only a seriously well trained and well founded fighter does them. I E a professional :TU:

I would also point out they can't grab any body part as they are bound by rules, they can't throw you into concrete or brickwalls either. Real scrap just incomparable.

Edit: just noticed my fuckin' tablet is typing for me again, last line meant to read 'if they don't get ko'd early" (as in the strongman gets sparked)

Ya but in MMA they can still grab you and throw you to the ground and squeeze you and all that too, and they are open to be hit when they come in for bear hugs and all that

Big difference when being thrown into a brick wall and concrete. And huge difference between fighting jon Jones and a person with interclub level amateur experience in their chosen sport. I'm not saying they'd compete in any combat sport at a decent level, but if you think the two strongest men in the world are going to be a walk in the park in a real encounter with 100% venomous intent.....

But yeah, anyone can get chinned

I think handy guys in your average boxing gym, mma gym etc would defo have more to them because of their combat background than these powerlifter types would be from being big and strong

The best way to get good at fighting is to do it and train in it, not to lift weights. I'm sure 'the mountain' would beat the average random joe more times than he'd lose, but a trained dude who can handle himself? I don't think so. He would probably collapse in exhaustion first or quit after being jabbed

None of them can box at all.
A lot of these bodybuilder/powerlifter-types "push" their punches. I wonder how hard they hit.
Never sparred anybody with that body type.
