Would Dempsey have won if he fought Carnera in 1933 ?

How knows, how good Dempsey could be at that point, but definitely he wouldn't be the same after years off the ring, while being nearly 40 years old. At that period of time Carnera was at his prime. Dempsey could rely mostly on a puncher's chance. Carnera would likely win that.

In 1933? I doubt it, when I first saw this thread I thought you were matching 'em both in their primes, and I was thinking "Why would you do that to poor Primo?"

Even a weaker version of Dempsey probably would be a problem for Carnera, but I'm not sure if he bothered staying in shape or what after retiring from the sport.

One of his proteges Baer, is the guy that took the title from Carnera.

Dempsey was having a lot of exhibition bouts so I thought maybe he could pull it off.
