I never put too much attention to who was faster than who (other than the obvious like Sugar Ray Leonard, Aaron Pryor, Roy Jones Jr and Hector Macho Camacho) but..wasn't Salvador Sanchez a bit slow? I mean he was a counterpuncher who awaited for openings....and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr always waited (in order to connect the perfect punch(es))

He’s very slow for a ‘great’ fighter. Which is the question I answered.

I never saw winky as slow. Especially earlier in his career he was a stick and move guy

Monzon came to mind first.

Monzon and definitely Foreman.Foreman reminds me of Juggernaut. He's molasses slow but you know what's coming and can't do anything about it.

Ummm, what? Gomez in his young prime at 122 was one of the most fleet footed technical wizards to ever fight.

Foreman was good at mixing up his shots---the length, the speed, the type. That helped him land a lot despite his lack of speed. It's easier to time a guy's offensive when it's the same rhythm. He could throw a wild chopping haymaker, and then like a 2 inch uppercut

I always thought Steve Collins wasn't particularly fast.

Marciano

Juan Manuel Marquez? Insanely fast hands?? Sure, but fast hands for a world class all time great type fighter? I'm thinking no...

And two of my all time favorite fighters.

His hand speed always looked slow to me. Very accurate yes and an excellent combination puncher but not speedy. Foot speed was good tho.

Not really..Sanchez just exploited his technical deficiencies to the core. Plus Sanchez had those long arms, the perfect technique, those lungs and that chin!

You think Gomez was the quicker handed fighter?

Agreed, and good shout man. Again his accuracy and power made up for slower hands.

I don't think of Gomez as being slow, but he looked really slow against Sanchez.

When he goes all out he looks slow, for a great fighter anyway.

It's a tough question, not many great fighters were slow. Overachievers that were really good inspire of being slow is an easier question to answer. I wouldn't categorize anyone listed here as slow, slower than Ali for sure. Like arguello for instance, his feet were on the slow side, as in his only weakness, but he didn't have slow hands at all.
