Tszyu inks Hatton deal!

IBF 140 pound champion Kostya Tszyu has reportedly signed a contract to defend his title against Ricky Hatton at Manchester, England's MEN Stadium on June 4. Tszyu's purse is said to be US$4.2 million. Tszyu's promoter Vlad Warton will meet with Hatton's promoter allegedly this week to finalize the the fight. Tszyu had been considering an offer from American promoter Murad Muhammad which was a four fight deal for a purse of US$14 million. Oscar De La Hoya has stated he is interested in a Kostya Tszyu bout at 147 pounds. After a long layoff, Tszyu looked sensational in scoring a third round knockout over Sharmba Mithchell in Phoenix, Arizona on November 6 last year.

Well two geniune world title bids in the space of 12 months for his fighters would be quite good going.

KOSTYA Tszyu last night committed himself to the first of a series of superfights that will make him one of the richest boxers in history.

Tszyu signed a deal late last night to fight emerging English challenger Ricky Hatton and will earn about $5 million for the bout.

It will be held at Manchester's MEN Stadium on June 4, with the opening bell to sound at 4am local time.

This is fantastic news.

Does anybody know how I can stay awake and alert until 4am. Adrenaline doesn't work anymore and caffeine has little effect. Any ideas? 8)

I am getting tempted about attending as well...hmm better check my shift pattern 8)

Good news, not sure if I will be up for attending though its bad enough trying to get transport back from the MEN at the best of times let alone 5am. Imagine how pissed the Hatton faithful will be by first bell!

The best bet is if you have any time off, spend a week just staying up late and altering your sleeping habits. If you do it right 4am will feel like 10pm then you can shock your system back into place by tiring yourself out by forcing yourself awake early and going to bed early to get yourself back on track.

Could this be the reason for Calzaghe pulling out, double header and PPV.
Some way to get a little money back, and they will have to have a long show to accomadate Sky viewers.

Keep all your windows open for plenty of fresh air and have a cold shower just before the fight starts. Then drink 6 cans of Red Bull.

You will be totally wired, and won't sleep for 3 days.

This is in June, if the rumour is right Calzaghe has pulled out of a february fight he could easily do both mind you he only fights twice a year. Would be interesting if Warren could get Johnson v Calzaghe on the same bill - but I think he has a rematch with Tarver next.

this will be competitive, make no mistake. Hatton looked excellent against oliveira, think how he will prepare for tzsyu.

tzsyu takes it though, by knockout. ricky doesn't have the style to beat tzysu.

My recent tactics have been get up earlyish on the day, then try to get to sleep around 11pm if possible. Set the alarm for before 3am, then maybe knock back an expresso, followed by a double malt whiskey, followed by a few soothing beers - by 4am you'll be in fine shape

Brilliant news by the sounds of it. Bizzare timing though....So I think the first bell rings prime time evening in the USA, and mid afternoon in Oz?

As long as Ricky remembers to keep his hands up, this will be fight of the year. Wonder what sort of odds will be on offer? I make Hatton a very live underdog.....

With the $5 mill they're reporting, I think Tszyu has no choice but to make the trip. He's probably hoping for an early night too.

Five month wait for Hatton, that'll be tough on the nerves, but hopefully not the weight. A month of 4am workouts too....

My favourite is to get absolutely fucked and stay up all night then barely remember the fight when I next wake up.

I don't see it as a competition between Eastman and Hatton as to who will get the prize pig first. Its just dates, Tszyu fought after Hopkins.

Also, from what I am reading Hatton vs Tszyu is more ready than Eastman vs Hopkins. I don't think anything has been confirmed, well certainly not the venue. Seems like that is sorted with the SN fighter. To get Tszyu on home turf is a tremendous feat, if it happens.

Looks to me as if Hatton just charges in and batters them till they can't contunue when watch him with Ray Olivera. Are they having any warm up fights before it or won't be fighting till this one?
