When you have one punch and you land it, you're a hero.
But when you don't............you got nowhere else to go.

Tua didn't hit as hard, but he did carry his power the whole fight. They do share a lack of boxing skill and a big heart. Tua is overrated but he would have snagged a belt in wilders situation. Not sure he could handle Ortiz but I'd bet on him against stiverne.

Both Wilder and Tua are far more dependant on punching power and both lack boxing skills. However, Wilder is better, because his timing is superior. He also is lengthy, which gives him an advantage.

Btw, just saw a bit extended version of an old sparring of Wilder vs Hrgovic, it was in 2011 or so. Anyone saw this before? It looked like, Hrgovic owned Deontay then.

Nice footage, haven't seen it before. Wilder hasn't changed his game much since then by the looks of things.

I kinda think Tua would beat Wilder.
Coming forward like a tree trunk, keeping Wilder on the back foot.
Land a left hook around round 5-7 and there you go.
I do not assume Wilder would or could KO Tua early.
But that's speculation.

Tua's big advantage in a head to head match with Wilder would be his far superior chin.

If Wilder was smart he'd do his best to outbox Tua the way he did Stiverne in their 1st bout, and not really try too hard for the KO.

It's possible he could do that too. Tua wasn't the hardest guy in the world to outbox.

The fact Stiverne was outboxed by Wilder really shows how awful Stiverne was. I mean no one gets outboxed by Deontay.

Tua was losing every round to Fres Oquendo prior to knocking him out.

He was outboxed in large stretches twice by Hasim Rahman.

I think Wilder would be able to do as good as Rahman if he fought smart. He'd have to come in with the right gameplan in his head though.

Jab and move, jab and move. Just forget big KO bombs

I ain't saying he should never throw a power shot the whole fight, but he definitely needs to only break them out sparingly as the key thing for him winning against Tua would be staying from Tua's left hook. So he'd usually want that big right hand glued in place to block any incoming hooks.

Wilder might be able to win a decision on height and reach alone. Of course, both poor boxers w/power.

Wilder has a an atomic right hand when he has a guy scared
and he's running away.
The rest of his "skills" are like a pond that's an inch deep..
And at 35 it's a hard time to learn a lot of new tricks.

That said Tua was also really limited but nearly impossible to KO.
If he landed the left hook though........

Anyone remember the beating that Tua put on Ibeabuchi? I think that any man would suffer from mental problems after taking a beating like that. That fight is probably the biggest nay sayer against the Ibeabuchi God myth.

Wilder would win a decision over Tua, though Tua would beat pretty much everyone and quite possibly everyone Wilder has beat. Imagine how brutally he'd have done Szpilka

I actually think Wilder's right hand would drop anyone, the question isn't if he can drop them it's what happens after that. I suspect Tua does a Fury, gets back up and come backs strongly. If that happens I think he grinds down Wilder.

Nigerian heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi. Their fight was a war.

Nothing wrong with either guy's punch resistance.

Tua had to fight the way he did because of his height and that he had that power. Wilder just never learned the proper skills. So maybe the same problem, but for different reasons.

I've though Filip looks better from when he was younger, he was lighter and a lot more fluid, and threw greater variety
