GIVE WARREN CREDIT

there's a lot of negative press surrounding Warren and hatton, but despite all the critics it appears that Warren has delivered the ultimate prize for Ricky, a home defence against Tszyu for the title of baddest man in the light welterweight division.

Go on ricky!

Even if it doesn't happen, Warren didn't recieve alot of public credit for delivering Vitali Klitchsko for Danny Williams.

I hope it happens, but well done already to Frank on giving Danny Williams the chance to fight the #1 fighter in the devision.

If Tszyu V Hatton is a done deal, then Mr Warren I thank you.

Clever move from Warren. Match his fighter very carefully until he is about 40-0 and then look to cash in against 1 big threat, win-win situation for Warren.

WBC and IBF light welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu has ended months of talks by signing to fight Ricky Hatton at Manchester's MEN Arena on 5 June.
The bout will take place at 0400 BST for the benefit of Saturday night television viewers in America.

YES IT IS HAPPENING - just as allegedly said it would.

Quite a lot of humble pie needs to be eaten by the constant knockers eh??????

Now Ricky has his chance can those who said he would never step up now shut up and enjoy this fight???????????

win or lose, I bet that Hatton gives a good account of himself. It's not an easy fight for Tszyu, and that is precisely why he held out for more money.

I will have to pay for a ticket for this one, seeing as i have little or not chance of a press pass, but for once, I don't mind at all.

that was a different scenario, that was an opportunity too good to miss, Williams was on the way down and had everything to gain. tszyu is the man in the division, and warren has built ricky into enough of a draw to make it an attractive enough proposition for tszyu to come over.

whatever way you look at it, that is some fornicating shrewd operating.

wonder how much Hatton is going to get???

i think it going to be 20000 upset people leaving the MEN arena at 4.30 in the morning.....

So what if it is, at least Ricky will have given it his best shot if that is the case. There't no shame in trying and failing, only in not trying at all.

I give hatton a better shot than most people. I think his style will give Tszyu problems.

I make Tszyu a favourite, about 65-35, but I believe Hatton will press him and get him on the back foot for a time whatever happens. If Hatton remains unmolested after the 4th round, he has a good shot. If he gets cut or hurt early on, he's fucked, but that's the same against anyone against Tszyu.

Ive heard about £500 000, not much more than he gets for all his fights and a hell of a lot less than Kosta is getting (£2.5) Just think if he wins though, he'd be in line to fight the likes of ODH and your talking seven figures for that one! :o

I'm not giving Warren credit until the fight is in the bank i.e. it's already happened. There's a big difference between 'securing' and 'delivering' a fight - to use two Warren buzzwords. I do give him credit for the way he has managed Hatton's career, though.

I think I'll reserve the majority my praise for when I see Tszyu actually say he's fighting Hatton. It's not that I don't believe the press, I'd just like to hear it straight from the man himself. And also, I'm not sure that delivering one fight totally wipes out what's gone before. Yes, it's the biggest possible fight out there for Hatton, and a huge fight for British boxing, but should it really negate several broken promises, and several awful fights? I'm unconvinced.

The key thing for me is where Hatton goes after this. Should he lose, then does he go back to fighting just below the top tier, or does he give it another crack? Should he win, is it a succession of soft defences at the MEN, or is it a concerted and genuine effort to go for the other big names? For me, that'll be almost as interesting as the fight itself. Well.....maybe not.

As for the fight itself, how can we judge how Hatton will fare against someone as good as Tszyu? He's never fought anyone who's a top ten fighter, and in something approaching their prime (although I suppose Magee or Phillips could have been considered at the very bottom of the top ten at the time of their fights with Hatton). My gut feeling is that Tszyu wins inside the distance, although I think that Hatton will show that he isn't totally outclassed at this sort of level.

Thank you Mr Warren!!!???..... :x :x :x :x :x !.... I think not!. :-? .. at the end of the day its his job to make the big fights and he has done precious little of that in recent years!... now he is only attempting this fight because Sky is obvious;y losing interest in showing mismatch after mismatch for paper titles..... also the fight has not happened yet... I'll believe it when I see it!.... 8)

exactly, a promoters obligation is to his fighters and himself, NOT the fans.

Then why should the fans "give him credit".

What a foolish topic to make. The man screws fans out of their money and puts on mismatch after mismatch with no regard for what the fans want. He refuses to make fights that the fans want an blatantly lies about fights being made. After screwing fans for years and making Hatton out to be a laughing stock in the states he "secures" a fight against Tszyu and we should all be jumping on his nuts, "Oh, well done frank". "thank you so much Frank" "I love you Frank".

Cop on mate.

Fans are not forced to attend Hatton fights or watch on TV they choose to do so of their own free will.

I've been fustrated with Hattons career as much as anyone, my previous posts will prove that, but no one forces me to follow Hattons career. Many of his opponents have been disappointing I agree, and most of us still roughly knew what the fight outcome was going to be, but we still watch the fight and pay to do so, and allegedly was not holding me at gun point to make me do this. I chose to of my own free will, like most of us here have.

chill out mate.

Criticism where it's due, and I've not been shy of criticising Sports Network over the years, but credit where it's due also.

At the end of the day, securing a fight against Tszyu is big news and is good for the sport as a whole and for british boxing.

if the promoter's obligation is to himself and his fighters and NOT his fans, then he would have no reason to be concerned if noone turned up to the fights, right?

A promoter puts on fights to enrich his fighter and himself, and of course in order to do so, you have to put on promotions which will attract a crowd and PPV audience.

As they say, you can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time.......

No promoter, no matter how skilfull will get away with shitting on fans forever, it's all about risk v reward, and how desperate the fighter is to get in there and do the business.

If SN put on a poor bill I critisize them.

If SN put on a great bill, I'm a happy Boxing fan. :D

Simple as that. :TU:

Yep, there's no more to it than that is there, as I said, criticism and credit where it's due.

We are not allowed to criticise though are we? So why should we praise?

Why all the Warren arselicking? This one fight doesn't erase the years of mismatches and innumerable phony titles he's rammed down the throat of British boxing.
I wish this fight weren't happening in Manchester, Tszyu really let the side down agreeing to that.

Christ, I'm just having a rare moment on non-cynicism, you should be happy for me. I just think it's quite an achievement if we get Tszyu over here to fight hatton, doesn't happen that often does it.

Tszyu came because it represented a big fat payday, he's fought abroad before, I'm sure he can handle the journey fine, i hardly see Tszyu being fazed by being in Hatton's back yard, can you?
