The 22-year-old Stevenson (13-0, 7 KOs), the WBO featherweight champion, will oppose Puerto Rico’s Felix Caraballo (13-1-2, 9 KOs) in a 10-round, 130-pound, non-title fight ESPN will air from MGM Grand’s Ballroom Conference Center.
The Stevenson-Caraballo bout, the rest of the six-bout card June 9 and the entire ESPN/Top Rank card scheduled for June 11 were officially announced Monday as well. The June 9 show will be the first boxing event in the United States since March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I can’t wait to get back in the ring and return live boxing to ESPN,” Stevenson said in a press release. “I was really disappointed when my fight [against Miguel Marriaga] got canceled in March, and I said then that I wanted to be one of the first fights back. I stayed in shape, so when that call came, I was ready. The atmosphere might be different on June 9th, but I’ve fought in unique situations all over the world before, so it won’t affect me. Regardless of who’s in the building, you’ll see another great performance, and I’ll remind everyone why I’m the best younger fighter in boxing.”
Below is the full list of fights ESPN will air June 9
Shakur Stevenson (13-0, 7 KOs), Newark, New Jersey, vs. Felix Caraballo (13-1-2, 9 KOs), Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, 10 rounds, junior lightweights.
Mikaela Mayer (12-0, 5 KOs), Colorado Springs, Colorado, vs. Helen Joseph (17-4-2, 10 KOs), Hamden, Connecticut, 10 rounds, junior lightweights.
Jared Anderson (3-0, 3 KOs), Toledo, Ohio, vs. Johnnie Langston (8-2, 3 KOs), Sarasota, Florida, 6 rounds, heavyweights.
Guido Vianello (6-0, 6 KOs), Roma, Italy, vs. Don Haynesworth (16-3-1, 14 KOs), New Rochelle, New York, 6 rounds, heavyweights.
Robeisy Ramirez (2-1, 2 KOs), Gulfport, Florida, vs. Yeuri Andujar (5-3, 3 KOs), San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, 6 rounds, featherweights.
Calvin Metcalf (10-3-1, 3 KOs), Kansas City, Missouri, vs. Quatavious Cash (11-2, 7 KOs), Atlanta, 6 rounds, middleweights.

Robeisy Ramirez’s stunning defeat in his pro debut quickly knocked him off track for an eventual pro showdown with Shakur Stevenson.
Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. signed Ramirez to a promotional contract in part to match him against Stevenson at some point because Ramirez beat Stevenson in the bantamweight gold-medal match at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Cuba’s Ramirez, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, will attempt to continue rebuilding his reputation by winning his third straight professional fight on Stevenson’s undercard June 9 in Las Vegas.
ESPN and Top Rank announced Monday that Ramirez (2-1, 2 KOs) will face the Dominican Republic’s Yeuri Andujar (5-3, 3 KOs) in a six-round featherweight fight on the card Stevenson will headline a week from Tuesday night. The 26-year-old Ramirez has won two bouts since losing a four-round split decision to Denver’s Adan Gonzales (5-2-2, 2 KOs) in Ramirez’s pro debut August 10 in Philadelphia.

“I would like to thank MGM Resorts and the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their assistance in helping to bring back world-class boxing,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “We are all looking forward to a spectacular summer of live boxing across ESPN platforms. Shakur is among the best young talents I’ve ever promoted, and he is going to put on a show on June 9.”
ESPN’s Top Rank play-by-play commentator, Joe Tessitore, will be calling the action from ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., studios. Andre Ward (analyst), former #1 pound-for-pound two-division world titleholder and 2004 Olympic gold medalist, Tim Bradley (analyst), former two-division world titleholder and boxing insider Mark Kriegel, will join from their home studios. Boxing reporter Bernardo Osuna will be on-location in Las Vegas.

Id like to see those prospects fight far more often during no audience. Big fights will probably not happening during summer, but guys like RObeisy Ramires can fight every month against these type of oponents to adapt pro game.

I like that Shakur is just taking a tick over fight. Probably getting paid fornicate all, but its just a chance to not sit stagnant, Make some new fans while theres nothing else to watch and its basically a sure thing.
I think more people, especially young fighters should have put there hand up for lower paying tick overs just to stay fresh, add another sneaky 1 to the win collum and in reality, Its a glorified sparing session, Im guessing he takes no punishment so if crowds happen to be allowed soon he will be ready anyway.

There was a show Saturday night on fite.tv that was the first boxing in United States since pandemic.
Prospects Shawn Simpson 12-0 and Desmond Jarmon 9-0 looked good with Jamel Herring commentary!

Shakur Stevenson will fight Tuesday night without his head trainer in his corner.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission will not allow Kay Koroma to work Stevenson’s corner for his fight against Felix Caraballo because Koroma has been in contact with Mikaela Mayer. Koroma tested negative for COVID-19 on Saturday, but he is the assistant trainer for Mayer, who tested positive for the virus and was removed from Tuesday’s card.
In accordance with the COVID-19 protocols the NSAC and Top Rank put together, all members of Mayer’s team were required to leave Top Rank’s restricted area, “the bubble” to which promoter Bob Arum has referred. A Top Rank official confirmed to BS.com on Monday night that Koroma has left MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, the site of Tuesday night’s card, as have Mayer and her head coach, Al Mitchell.
