Kessler for me too and possibly via late TKO.
I watched MK's big title fight with Calzaghe in Wales (at the time and again a few months back) and you know Mikkel was really not far off Joe....it is just a few bits of quality from Joe at precisely the right time.
I always found James a bit maddening....too many of those mini-breaks in key rounds which good opponents made him pay for and I could see Kessler doing the same and really exploiting those Degale "timeouts."

I think kessler is basic. Decent fighter but basic. Degale has more wrinkles but he always took rounds off. I see a draw

Ya I think it would be close. Lean Kess to get a bit more credit based on activvity and to win a close decision, maybe an md. I don't think Degale would be able to discourage him enough.

Kessler wins a lopsided decision or stops Degale late.
Degale kinda turned off for the 2nd half of the fight against almost everybody. Might be 3 rounds to 3 after 6 rounds, but it'd be all Kessler for the 2nd half of the bout.

Degale just wouldn't do enough. His stamina over the 2nd half of a bout was always one of his key weaknesses.

Degale was certainly deeply frustrating on that count Gilgamesh and it is why I think Kessler wins this match-up....
…..and as far as I can recall Degale also took some of these odd time-outs quite early in proceedings as well and it was not always the late rounds; he just seemed to gas himself and wanted to go walkabout, recuperate and not get engaged.
His much hyped and feisty fight with Groves was possibly a case in point....really not much to choose between them in terms of skills, quality of shots landed but Groves got busy precisely when he sensed Degale was seeking to coast.
Definitely a strange one; especially as Degale was with Jim McDonnell for years and Jim both as a fighter himself and a trainer was an absolute stickler for fitness and working like a machine in the ring. He was a bit of a Duracell Bunny
Might simply have been a case of this being the one thing Degale could not deliver physically?
