I offered 100 x 3/4 hour tapes on here a few years back,before you were a member I think and had no interest so threw them in the tip.Old tapes tend to jam and break in the machine,quite difficult to record from I found.

Mine did too,but i just had no room to keep the boxes at the time in a rented house,a lot of them I bought from an American guy,some great unseen fights,the rest I collected myself over a period of about 10 years,Eubank,Benn,Tyson,Chavez the list goes on

My first recorded bout on VHS was Trevor Berbick-Mitch Green and then Hector Camacho Sr.-Jose Luis Ramirez...at least in Puerto Rico the Camacho-Ramirez bout was considered HUGE, one of the 5 or 6 big bouts of 1985 along with Bramble-Mancini II, Hagler-Hearns, Gomez-Lockridge, Spinks-Holmes I and Curry-McCrory. My family got our first VCR just after Gomez-Lockridge and before Camacho-Ramirez so I decided to begin recording fights starting with the Camacho-Ramirez card. As I remember, I went out the night of the fight and got me a Kodak tape. I was 12 and believed the tape would last me forever!

And then I found out as you have mentioned, during a show of an old Matthew Saad Muhammad bout on a Sunday afternoon, that sadly, you are right. Tapes broke after jamming. Recording the bouts (and movies) was easy...keeping the tapes from jamming and breaking not that much!

I did decide to put the best highlights of all the tapes I had into one tape which if it even still exists, I could not use anyways as I have no more VCR's....(in fact I also have a VCR tape where I am myself recorded in my only ever television singing presentation during a presentation on the Puerto Rican version of MTV's Control Remote-an aspiring rocker at that time, they had me sing a Merengue song instead, )

I have over 2000 fights on VHS. I have 100s and 100s of fights and the tapes are still in pretty good condition for the most part. During this pandemic i have been able to put them in some kind of order by tape brand in particular. Do not get me wrong a few of them have malfunctioned over the years. I like VHS better than DVD. I am not kidding i have 100s of DVDs and have more trouble with them than the 1000s of VHS tapes i own. I do have a DVD recorder but do not have the time to switch everything i have on VHS in a lifetime.
