He's a funny one. Always looks so disinterested in his fights. Talented but, for me,a hard watch as a pro. Doesnt seem to really like a scrap. That said, his win over rosales has aged well, and no disgrace to his loss against the mexican as he mow looks the business.

Knocked down twice in his last fight, maybe this enforced break from boxing made him think about what level he wanted to get to, and physically he might not get there.

The trouble with the small guys, the general public doesn't really care about them, they only get one-two chances to make money/get to the top, when someone like Dave Allen gets around 10 chances to get money fights.

The prob is at that weight you can be Euro champ but have to keep the day job, prob the same if you win the worlds unless you have a big following.

I don't know but if you look at the likes of Lee Haskins or now Charlie Edwards, did they ever make any real money.

It certainly takes away your motivation to continue in such a hard sport if their is no financial reward.

Yeh. At the lower weights you have to be exciting. KO artist or just an exciting fighter..

I mean what did he 'deserve' from boxing. He had a final eliminator for a title and got wiped out. Then dropped twice by some rando journeyman a fight later. Not a particularly accomplished or long career where you think he really shoulda got a title at some point. There are also plenty of guys who have turned pro with better amateur achievements but not really had that good of careers.

He was talented, but was he really some amazing dead on world champ or something. He had feather fists and was often getting by solely on speed and not particularly refined boxing. Funny enough in what I think may have been his last fight before the pros he got clowned and badly marked and stopped up by a slower but sounder boxer from Kyrgyzstan

Don't get me wrong he was good, but there was way too much talk about him being some master class elite level guy or something. His brother was easily better than him.

Good fighter. Sure I heard Sanigar say on that Tris Dixon podcast that Andrew has issues with the drink. Looked like a can’t miss star at one stage. Sad.

Yeah I think Lee has hinted in a few interviews that Andrew doesn’t exactly live the life and also doesn’t enjoy the training. So wouldn’t be a surprise if he retires.

I remember Richie Woodhall said he was the most talented fighter he took on the pads during his time at Sheffield.

Saw him fight on the same card as Usyk and Lomachenko.

I thought he was a nailed on World champion. In fact I thought he had the talent to go up the weights as World champion.

As already alluded to he doesn’t liventhe life. Also he’s had some bother with the Old Bill recently.

Bit of a surprise, but Selby never seemed to cut a happy figure in the pros. Very talented, he seemed destined for more.

Good luck to him, was too much of an underpowered slapper for me to get on the bandwagon. Wonder if he regrets turning pro, can't have made much, at least he did manage a British title

He's 31 which is old for a banty. He tried world level and got destroyed. Boxes like he doesn't want it, which mean training camps must be arduous, especially with the lack of remuneration. Best do something else.

Shouldn’t be sanctioned he has serious addiction issues. Not nice to see. He needs help not punching.

Lee is supposed to be at it too, he shouldn't be skint.

I remeber when him and Fred Evans turned over. Big things were expected from both. Lee Selby even said his brother was far more talented that him but didn't have the dedication. Andrew at least won a british and only martinez beat him. Evans got knocked out by a journey man and never fought beyond a 6 rounder.
