Eddie Hearn and Matchroom are delighted to announce the full schedule for Fight Camp – an unrivalled summer of elite boxing based at the Matchroom HQ in Brentwood, Essex with the first three weeks shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US – and the final week shown live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The unique and ground-breaking outdoor setting overlooking the city of London will play host to huge World Title clashes, British and Commonwealth Title showdowns, Heavyweight wars and countless other Title fights as Matchroom bring top tier boxing back to the screens of fights fans across the UK and US.

Matchroom’s summer of boxing launches with a bang on Saturday August 1 as Sam Eggington (28-6, 17 KOs) puts his IBF International Super-Welterweight title on the line against Ted Cheeseman (15-2-1, 9 KOs) in a guaranteed barnburner, Belfast’s big-hitting James Tennyson (26-3, 22 KOs) takes on Cardiff’s Gavin Gwynne (12-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant British Lightweight title, Chatteris talent Jordan Gill (24-1, 7 KOs) meets Watford’s Reece Bellotti (14-3, 12 KOs) in an electric Featherweight battle, fast-rising Ipswich Heavyweight Fabio Wardley (8-0, 7 KOs) steps up to take on Middlesbrough’s Simon Vallily (17-2-1, 7 KOs) for the vacant English belt and gifted Sheffield Super-Lightweight Dalton Smith (5-0, 4 KOs) squares off with Liverpool’s Nathan Bennett (9-1, 2 KOs).

Week 1 looks to be the pick of the cards from Eddie's garden.

Ted really needs the win.

I think Cheeseman is very much the home fighter here. He showed in the last fight that he has plenty left. Eggerton on the other hand overachieved a bit and it has taken something out of him fighting at that level.
Nevertheless I'm pleased to see Sam get these opportunities and paydays even if he is the opponent, great value fighter

Hearn senior took a bit of a shine to Eggington I recall. Still don’t know what the fck he was thinking when he got stopped by that Tanzania dude.

Tbf Sam is in the home corner and on the left hand side of the card and we got achoice of 3 opponents and got to choose who Sam wanted to fight. Also because of being the defending champ Sam will also be walking to the ring second. I think hes going to surprise a lot of people on the night hes feeling very good at light middle now after taking a while to settle at the weight.

Just looked that up, couldn't believe Eggington is only 26, seems to have been around forever and at a high level.

Its realy tricky welter is very tough he gets to 10.10 and it just sticks but on the other hand he makes 11 way too easy really so its tempting to try to make 10.7. Hes settling at light middle and feeling decent there now. Sam just likes a good fight and figures heel get that with Ted plus its nice to be the one on form and on a winning streak. If a big fight comes at welter and there was a long enough camp I think its possible ,But at 11 and at age 26 theres still chance heel get bigger and stronger at 11 as he gets used to it.

Think hes trying to wait for a big payday from his win against sam. He had a scare in his last one according to his agent against a guy 24 .23 so he needs to snap his pay day up sooner rather than later.

Was chatting on Twitter earlier on a thread with Sams win over fiordigglio on and I said I think people completely disregard that because of the manner of which sam went thru the Italian.
Fiordigglio was 31.2 with his two losses coming in European title fights one by split decision and one losing to the very good Cedric Vito in the 11th round when in front on pts.
For Sam to go to Italy and blitz him in under two rounds is a win that would be the best win on a lot of British fighters records but its largely ignored because it was so dominant people think was a gimme.
Still its all good to debate and talk about but I do think sam will open a few eyes in this fight that hes still learning and improving.I Believe the Sam who fought Gavin,Rodriguez and Malignaggi might have lost in Italy

I was thinking about Eggington earlier today. I was second row ringside for the Prizefighter that night.

On that night, just 10 fighters took the ring,

One of them went on to a tragic fight with Mike Towell, which saw the last death of a boxer on prime time tv. Retired after an unsuccessful British title shot.
One of them won the tournament, got stabbed, came back and won the Commonwealth title before coming up short for the British title and retiring.
One of them went on to win the British and Commonwealth titles. beat Malignaggi before taking some heavy beatings but still fighting on.
One of them held a world title for 4 years before becoming a victim of Roman Gonzalez.
One of them went onto fight unsuccessfully for the British light middleweight title later that year.

Crazy night that was with some great fights. Best prize fighter?

Sam Eggington says his highly-anticipated showdown with Ted Cheeseman at the top of the opening week of Matchroom Fight Camp on Saturday, August 1, is “all or nothing” for both men as he sets his sights on a World Title Eliminator at 154lbs.

Former European Welterweight Champion Eggington (28-6, 17 KOs) has notched four straight wins since losing to Liam Smith back in March 2019, picking up the IBF International Super-Welterweight Title on away soil against Orlando Fiordigiglio in September.

He puts that belt, along with his No.5 ranking with the IBF, on the line against Cheeseman, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US, knowing that a win could propel him towards a surprise World Title shot and a loss could undo all of his hard work over the past year.

The stakes are equally as high for Cheeseman, who finds himself in a must-win situation following two losses and one draw in his last three fights. Everything is on the line for ‘The Big Cheese’ and another loss could prove to be disastrous for his career.

“You only have to watch Ted fight to know that he doesn’t give up when it gets hard,” said Eggington. “I have full faith in myself, and if anyone can make him give up, I’ll be that guy. It’ll be a good fight while it lasts. The way we both fight, it’s’s going to gel for war, but I genuinely think I’ve got enough to get the win.

“I’m confident in this fight. Eddie gave me a list of names for potential opponents, and we picked him out because it’s a good fight and one we can win. It’s’s not a match that worries me as others might have. I’ll make sure I walk out with the win. Any way, shape, or form, I’ll get the win.

“I’ve never been in a position to have an argument for some sort of Eliminator, and I think I am now with the IBF belt. That’s the aim once we get past Ted next month. It’s all or nothing for both of us. That’s the way I live in general.

“It’s in the garden, and there won’t be a crowd, but that doesn’t matter to me. If I’m fighting and it’s a packed-out arena, I want to win that fight. If I’m fighting in an empty room, I’m fighting, and I still want to win. I’m going to bite down on my gum-shield and do anything I can to win.”

Simon Vallily is determined to inflict a first career defeat on Dillian Whyte’s Heavyweight protégé Fabio Wardley when they collide for the vacant English Title on the opening week of Fight Camp in Brentwood, Essex on Saturday August 1, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

The 2010 Commonwealth Gold Medallist has let himself down a few times during his 20-fight professional career, particularly in 2018. First, he was on his way to lifting the English Cruiserweight Title only to lose his discipline and end up drawing with Afran Iqbal. Later in the year, he turned up at the Newcastle Arena over the Cruiserweight Championship weight limit and was stopped by Craig Glover.

While his career was not over, it was hanging by a loose thread. But the 34-year-old talent has re-invented himself as a Heavyweight and is currently undefeated in four fights, reeling off stoppage wins over Jone Volau, Dorian Darch and Erik Nazaryan before a points verdict over Phil Williams in December.

“I think that experience will play a big part in this fight,” said Vallily. “People keep on going on about the guys Fabio has sparred with, but I’ve been around the block and I’ve sparred with some of the best lads in the world – I’m not going to bang on about it.

“10oz gloves and no headguards, believe me it’s a whole different ball game. It’s going to be a big eye-opener for him. I’ve had a look at him, and you can see he’s got a bit of talent. He’s tricky, he’s fresh, he’s going to come and he’s going to be fit.

“It’s going to be a really good fight but totally disregard my professional career to this point because to be honest with you it’s been a total shambles. This is where it starts now and unfortunately for Fabio, this is my coming out party and not his. He’s not going to see the final bell. Sorry Fabio, but you’re going to sleep mate!”
