15 rounds, the 77-78 version of Ali vs the 85-86 version of William's, who wins?

Ali beats Williams by decision, and that's the truth.

Even if he is post-prime like 1978, Ali would still win against Carl.

Probably Williams would win. It could be about the same fight as Williams-Holmes, where Carl got robbed. However, Williams could tire in the second half of the bout and blow the ending, maybe even get caught there.

Ali would box circles around Williams. No doubt.

1978 Ali would struggle, but I think he could still win.

1978 wasn't Ali. Let's face it. The last we saw of Ali was in Manilla.

Manilla was in 1975, he still had time.
He still won against good fighters after Manilla; Jimmy Young, Norton, Shavers etc.

I know it wasn't the same Ali but that was the question posed here. 77-78 Ali vs Williams

Ken Norton was robbed terribly in their 3rd bout.

C'mon man, that wasn't Ali. Everyone knows he left much of himself in the ring vs Frazier in the Phillipines.

It was razor close. I had it a draw most of the times I watched it.

True, what I meant that he still had the ability to win against very good fighters after Manilla.

Wasn't close. 10 rounds to 5 for Norton.

Yeah, but I'm right on this one though
You could argue the margin, but it's either 9 rounds to 6 Norton, 8 rounds to 7 Norton or 10 to 5 Norton. Ali didn't win.

Funny thing is, it was UD, not even SD or MD

.
Either way, I think Ali vs. Norton 3 was close, and I wouldn't complain if it was a draw.
