Chris Billam-Smith vs Nathan Thorley

Billam-Smith defends his Commonwealth Cruiserweight title against unbeaten Thorley, never seen him before, 6 KOs in 14 I think it is, never been passed 8 rounds, all foreign journeymen, big step up, I like Billam-Smith, he likes a tear up and can bang, pushed Riakporhe close and came out on top in a shoot out with Glover last time out to win title
Decent fight on paper, I'm not interested in the Harper/Jonas fight, I'll watch coz TBF these lasses do throw up some decent scraps every now and then but Billam-Smith/Thorley main event for me, even it's pretty meh

I like Billam-Smith. stoppage mid/late stoppage. Harper should walk through Jones in 3/4 rounds.

A one sided beatdown which got exciting for 30 seconds when Thorley finally showed some fight after the first knockdown in the 2nd round, seemed to wake him up, he knew he at least had to try or go out showing absolutely nothing,
Billam-Smith came out rapid, whipped in some hard lefts to head and body, Thorley was upright and caught in the headlights, Billam-Smith clubbed him down with left hooks for KD in the 1st but a cracking right to the body got there first, must've hurt
It was rights that clubbed Thorley down for the second KD but as I say it woke Thorley up for a throw of the dice and he landed a few including that big right, that was solid
Billam-Smith walked him onto a peach of a right for the finish, reminded me of Froch/Groves 2, Thorley dropped like a stone

thorley looked a different weight class , i think cbs will struggle against a real cru who can box, but he is powerful like to see him against even oppo be interesting, i mean dont want to be harsh because cru is a hard weight to look at fighters i think , would like to see more of him. he is strong powerfurl took a shot while throwing one, though could of been of wobblebled by thornley

Still not impressed by CBS but it was a good match during the last minute, with a thunderous right by Billam to end a worthless match.

CBS got the job done impressively. Keeps him moving up the rankings. I like the way he gets down to business and shows no sign of freezing, obviously bigger tests to come, but he looks the part.
