EWA BRODNICKA SIGNS WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

Undefeated WBO Super-Featherweight World Champion Ewa Brodnicka has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and has targeted a unification clash with the winner of Terri Harper vs. Natasha Jonas.

Poland’s Brodnicka (19-0, 2 KOs), a former European Lightweight Champion, outpointed Irma Balijagic Adler to land the interim WBO Super-Featherweight World Title in May 2017 before capturing the full crown against Sarah Pucek in Czestochowa a year later.

‘Kleo’ has made five successful defences of her title, all in Poland, most recently decisioning Belgium’s Djemilla Gontaruk in March, and the 36-year-old is determined to get her hands on Harper’s WBC and IBO belts.

Brodnicka is the latest addition to Matchroom’s unrivalled stable of women’s boxing talent that includes Undisputed Lightweight World Champion Katie Taylor and Undisputed Welterweight ruler Cecilia Braekhus, amongst a host of other contenders.

“I’m delighted to team up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing,” said Brodnicka. “Women’s boxing is on fire right now and I want to be in all the big fights starting with the unification match up between the winner of Harper and Jonas. I’m excited for the future and can’t wait for my return to the ring.”

“I’m delighted to welcome Ewa to the team” said Eddie Hearn. “This sets up a huge unification fight between the winner of Terri Harper vs. Natasha Jonas at Fight Camp at a time where women’s boxing continues to go from strength to strength.”

Yeh, literally..

I haven’t been a huge fan of women’s boxing and tend to fast forward the tv or if live I grab a pint.

I will watch the fight tonight. Hearn is looking to make a narrative out of the Super-Feather division. I can see a few fights involving the same fighters over the coming months.

Could do wonders for woman’s boxing if it takes off.

I wonder how many tickets or PPV buys womens boxing does ?

Women’s fighting in UFC was probably met with similar attitude but Ronda Rousey did huge numbers at one point.

I’d imagine if you can get the right narrative you can do decent numbers.

Women's MMA is much more entertaining and they wear less and roll around more, very different from women's boxing, just cause mma caught on doesnt mean womens boxing will, i watch womens mma but the boxing is just awful for the most part and for every fun fight we get many many many times more boring locked on decisions with pillow punch slaps. they should make it 3 x 3 for a fast paced short fight

Or they have a clause that they can cut her with a loss

Or they really could have her planned for multi fights, maybe some card filler for the dazn usa cards

There is always a clause with multi fight deals that if you lose the deal is off!

Realistically it will be a 3 fight deal, a warm up, the Jonas v Harper winner, and if she wins that the Jonas v Harper loser.

Eddie will come with the champion and leave with the champion.
