Avni was owed a sot due to the controversial ending of the Dirrell fight, hence him waiting out time until getting it, it was him VS one of the offers that were made to the WBC (Canelo, Smith and Abdugofurov IIRC).

So whilst it might seem stupid Avni was pretty much assured a shot before Benavidez fucked up his weight (and unlike the Fast Fres situation is getting it by the looks of things).

The WBC (and WBO to a lesser extent) is creating more and more potential situations where things can get very complicated very quickly.

They had Anvi owed a shot, and had a Franchise champion (I believe they can move up and down and get mandatory placements), and then they can have Diamond and Interim titles.

The WBO, to their credit, can only have a mandatory and Super Champion a division lower

And the less said about the WBA the better.

Same here,i don't even bother watching anything really,just look on here for the result and that's it,can't even be bothered watching the next day on youtube.

If any additional divisions are being made it needs to be between light heavy and cruiser IMO.

If you're going to fight only once or twice a year you need to take on meaningful opponents. What a waste of time.
